The New Americans Initiative program is providing scholarships for our clients to pay their USCIS fees for naturalization and DACA renewal applications!

- Must be a Lawful Permanent Resident (green card) or DACA recipient
- Proof of income needed (IRS 1040 form for everyone in your household who works for money)
- Must meet Illinois income guidelines
- Must be a client of The Immigration Project (NAI partner organization)

Trained CCRRC Rapid Responders investigated a hotline tip on Mattis and Springfield (2006 W Springfield Ave, Champaign, IL 61821) at 9:47 am.

On scene, they witnessed:
9 agents of unknown agency, some with vest and/or holsters some without were spotted. They had variety of vehicles most only had back plates which included a Silver Nissan Titan covered top, a Blue Forc f150, a silver Dodge Charger, a silver Ford Explorer, and a Black Ford mustang.

NO DETENTIONS WERE WITNESSED. Individuals witnessed the vehicles leave east and south at 9:57 am.

From 9:57 am until 11:06 am, comrades checked various locations around town including Yankee Ridge and found no activity taking place. And the Activation was called off at 11:06 am and no Immigration Enforcement activity was observed.

Earlier this year, you may have seen our interviews, newsletters, and other updates about the quiet disruptions in the DOJ accredited program and concerns about what will happen in the future.

This program helps expand access to reliable legal information by allowing more trained advocates to serve community members. It is a program TIP relies on, and one our community needs.

Today, we are excited to share some good news: six TIP staff members—Jessica, Sergio, Katerine, Magda, Hasina, and Nemdy—recently became fully DOJ accredited representatives.

This is also a significant milestone for The Immigration Project. In our 30-year history, only one other staff member had previously reached this level of accreditation. Now, six more advocates are prepared to provide legal guidance to individuals and help expand the support available to immigrant families in our region.

UNCONFIRMED on Wednesday July 22nd: We received report of ICE sighting and arrest in Bloomington-Normal on East Vernon Ave. near 600 Grandview Dr, Normal, IL 61761. So far, we have been able to confirm 0 arrests.

The Immigration Project is trying to confirm and get more information about this sighting and possible arrests connected to it.

Following last week’s ICE sightings across our Bloomington-Normal and Champaign-Urbana service areas, we want to share the latest information.

As of now, we have not received any additional reports of ICE sightings. We hope this means agents have left the area.

We can confirm that 15 families have already been impacted, and our team is working to provide legal and social services support during an incredibly traumatic and distressing time.

These are our neighbors—longtime community members who were simply trying to go to work, already at work, or moving through their daily lives when they were arrested.
