A little look inside my own skincare routine.
Before heading to Las Vegas for my recent meeting, I had my amazing team at CURRENT Medspa do one of my go-to treatments for skin maintenance: SkinPen microneedling.
SkinPen creates controlled microchannels in the skin to support collagen production and improve overall texture. We paired it with VAMP, a PDRN based treatment, followed by a cooling mask to help calm the skin afterward.

Learning. Sharing. Advancing.
A few days in Las Vegas surrounded by facial plastic surgeons from around the country, learning from new research, exchanging ideas, and getting into the details that continue to move our field forward.
I was also grateful for the opportunity to contribute by sharing my approach to deep plane facelifting under local anesthesia with oral sedation.
From anatomy and tissue strength to dissection planes and millimeter level suture placement, my biggest takeaway was simple: the details matter. I’m back home feeling inspired, grateful, and excited to bring what I learned back to my patients.

Facelifting continues to evolve and meetings like this are a big reason why.
I just returned from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, where facial plastic surgeons from around the world came together to share research, techniques, and new ideas.
One of my biggest takeaways was just how precise the science of facelifting has become. We’re studying tissue strength, surgical planes, anatomy, and even how millimeters of difference in suture placement can impact results. The goal is better consistency, better outcomes, and greater longevity.
I was also grateful for the opportunity to contribute to that conversation by discussing my approach to performing deep plane face and neck lifts under local anesthesia with oral sedation, an approach that continues to generate a lot of interest among other surgeons.
There is always more to learn, refine, and share. That’s what makes meetings like this so valuable.

What causes a “cobra neck” after a facelift and can it be corrected?
This deformity is often the result of overly aggressive neck liposuction combined with inadequate support of the platysma muscle. When too much fat is removed, thin skin can shrink wrap around the underlying structures, creating that characteristic central depression.
Correction may require a fully released deep plane face and neck lift, platysmaplasty, careful fat management, and sometimes fat grafting.
Modern neck lifting isn’t about simply removing more, it’s about preserving and reconstructing the right anatomy for a smooth, natural contour.
