JAM Dance Academy

Sometimes it’s about individual training; watching the student slowly demonstrate their steps to understand their weaknesses. Simply telling a student to fix an issue without explaining how to begin to fix it is a disservice to the child. Here, we have a student who has been with us for a number of years who naturally has, fallen arches, a bit of a hypertension in one knee and tight hamstrings and calves. While we are establishing proper dance techniques, this child still has these issues to also perform in other sports. She loves track so we are working with her to understand her landing when dancing and running so her knee properly maintains over her foot. Her tight hamstrings keep her from maintaining turnout so we have been working on inner and outer thigh strength, as well as lifting with her ilio psoas muscle. Because of her hard work, her foot strength is soaring and her understanding of her alignment is starting to show. What we appreciate as educators is her parent’s openness to listen and fit her with proper arch support. We may teach proper dance and body techniques, but students must live lives too and being aware of our individual students needs is key. 🔑

These faces…❤️ Always look forward to a surprise mug shot while looking through rehearsal footage. 🤣

Hardest workin’ en pointe…🩰So proud!

Coming into this big dance space can be so intimidating for these little ones the first time. Seeing the smiles at the end of class is everything and so very heartwarming. Our job is to stay calm, make sure they sense no pressure and when they run into class on their own…it’s such a big win. 🥹💜💙🌟

Wishing our instructor alexis treese a very Happy Birthday today! We hope it’s amazing! 🎂💜
