And it is my faith that we are all flowers.

Sending love to everyone, near and far, continuing to navigate these latest climate realities, amongst all the other hardest times ๐Ÿ’”

We hope to hug you soon ๐ŸŒน

We hope you're finding relief amidst this gorgeous, smoke-free, unseasonably cooooool July weather.

Our farm & design & hosting worlds have been keeping us verrrrrry busy (like harvesting at all hours of the night on any given day kind-of busy).

But we've missed seeing you since last week, so come thru!

We have almost reached the halfway mark of our outdoor seating fundraiser (thank you!) .... and while we are going to try to continue to raise all the $$$, we decided to throw financial caution to the wind and we swiped the credit card to buy all the things ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

We want to bring you the outdoor experience ASAP.

Donations are still being accepted, appreciated and very much needed ๐Ÿ™ Thank you for considering and to all those who have donated, we are humbled and forever grateful!!! (Look out for your invite to the grand opening party soooooooon.)

See you this weekend ๐ŸŒน

This can be you tonight, tomorrow, the next day...

Hanging with us like a couple of kids.

We're so lucky to live somewhere soooooo beautiful with the capacity to nourish our community. We are forever grateful to be a part of this agricutural scene. Thank you to all of our local farmers for doing what you do in increasingly difficult circumstances ๐Ÿ™Œ

AND thank you to everyone who has donated to our fundraiser so far. Your deeply generous support is so humbling...thank you thank you thank you.

We're not yet at 50% of our goal and we can't make the outdoor seating dream happen without you. Please help spread the word! (link in bio)

Please come see us tonight๐ŸŒน

Did you know that the reason SR is only open Thurs-Sat is because Sun-Wed is all about our farm work?

Every week, we're hustling to make sure our harvests are out the door by mid-week so that we can turn our attention to event design and hosting you all at SR. (To be clear, the farm work never stops, it's just happening at a different pace after mid-week!)

Farmers don't typically get any days off simply because plants don't take days off!! (Hint : thank your local farmer!) But this week, there is a sweet synchronicity in the rhythm of farm work and this July 'holiday' falling at the end of the week: the plants are regenerating for their next harvest, it's a crazy heatwave, and we have the ability to take a couple of consecutive days in a row to rest alongside the flowers!

So we'll be back with you July 9th. We hope you rest and stay safe out there.

ALSO, FYI, we're still trying to raise funds for outdoor seating.... help us make it happen before summer is over? ๐ŸŒด THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far!! Every little bit counts!!! ๐Ÿ”— in bio

See you next week ๐ŸŒน

After several years of (unsuccessfully) attempting to convince Smith College to allow us to use the backyard space behind SR for outdoor seating, we have pivoted our vision:

Just last week, we received approval from the City of NoHo to create an outdoor seating area in front of SR...and now we need your help to make this outdoor lounge a reality!!!

Over the past 2+ years, we have invited you all to gather amongst the flowers while offering you respite, beauty and connection. Week after week, we have hosted our ever-expanding, gorgeous community in the evenings AFTER our long days on the farm! We are humbled to have connected with so many new friends.

We aspire to make this new outdoor space an oasis: an accessible, beautiful extension of the environment we have worked so hard to cultivate inside of Sub Rosa. We are committed to offering comfortable seating that accommodates *all the bodies* while finally being able to provide a safe haven for immunocompromised community members.

City regulations require a clear delineation of an outdoor seating area, which means that we must purchase planters to line the entire space. (Almost 30 linear feet of planters!) Transparently, comfortable, accessible, commercial-grade furniture and planters are pricey!

The funds we are looking to raise will go directly towardsย three benches, nine chairs, three tables, and nine planters.

We want to acknowledge that we are all experiencing varying degrees of hardship these days and there are SO MANY WORTHY CAUSES where you can direct your money.

For Sub Rosa, the rising costs of doing business are making it harder and harder to survive, and plainly, we will not be able to move forward with the creation of this outdoor space without the support of our community. The reality is, despite our well-intentioned community-focus, we still operate our business in a 'retail sales' model. Outdoor seating in the summer will truly help us stay open!

Every level of contribution will help create a safe, inclusive, and beautiful space for community connection.

Life has been running the gamut of experiences lately, and in both the highs and lows, I always like to reflect on how we got here. So it's time to revive this Rebecca apprection post I made in 2021 over on the IG. Simply put, there would be no SR without MG and no MG without Ruth.

Our core value has always been about bringing beauty and beautiful experiences into the world. Being in community with y'all is the highlight of it all.

Come see us ๐ŸŒน

---------
Rebecca is the founder & visionary of MG. She is a wonder: a self-taught farmer & designer, an amazing teacher, a fierce advocate for the people with whom she surrounds herself, a genuine & earnest storyteller, an authentic & creative force. She is always pushing the boundaries of what is possible. While that can be exhausting at times, what she has dreamed up & achieved in a few short years is truly remarkable to witness.

MG was born out of Rebecca's pure reverence for flowers; the story of how the farm came to be offers a little peek into the light that Rebecca inhabits in this world.

Rebecca became the primary caretaker for her best friend & soulmate, Ruth, after Ruth found out that she was terminally ill with cancer just after she had turned 30. Rebecca & Ruth were determined to live life to the fullest with the time that Ruth had left. As they moved through their days, they began an unspoken practice of leaving each other cuttings of flowers in their home, surprising one another with flowers from their garden left on each other's bedside tables; they would forage sticks & foliage on walks, making arrangements out of found objects. This regular practice, which developed slowly from one simple gesture to the next, meant that their home was full of life in Ruth's last year. The love language that Rebecca developed with Ruth, through flowers, turned into a gravitational pull. And here we are: on a flower farm whose namesake honors the many, many graces that flowers bring into this world.

As we hustle to move these flowers from seed to field to harvest, know that our reverence for flowers run deep, and our farm is the ultimate passion project.

Gather at SR on Monday, June 1st for a community story-telling event with the author of The Le***an Bar Chronicles and co-hosts of . 5:00 PM & 7:30 PM.

Le***an bars are so much more than a place to get a drink. For over a century, theyโ€™ve acted as community posts, political organizing grounds, and sanctuaries. In the 1980s, there were an estimated 200 le***an bars across the US; the current count sits at a few dozen. The Le***an Bar Chronicles is made up of stories from 38 le***an bar communities across the country.

Come share your story of experiencing q***r space! (Sign up with a link on the ticket page.)

Sliding scale entry with the option to add a book to your ticket purchase. Link in bio.

Space is limited. If your sliding-scale price point, is sold-out, please reach out to see what we can do. (setting up sliding-scale ticket options is no logistical joke, so we are real-time monitoring sales to make sure we don't over-sell!)

Your ticket fee goes to support the arts & culture programming at Sub Rosa...real talk: the odds are stacked against all of us, so whenever y'all come out to see us - in whatever capacity - it helps keep the lights on at SR a little while longer.

See you soon ๐ŸŒน

We are revelling in every bird chirp, every new bud on the trees and every spring bulb that's made its way to the surface so far.

While we all face completely unbearable news all the time, being in community with you gives us hope.

We're planning more food and dance and book and mutual-aid and soul-tending events for the very near future.... but we're also SO busy farming right now ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

Also on the to-do list: we're hoping to scrape together funds to get some outdoor seating soon ๐Ÿคž It's gotta happen.

Thanks for the review

We hope to see y'all soon ๐ŸŒน
