Six months after the Supreme Court reset U.S. tariff policy, rates have stacked back up โ a 10-12.5% baseline across 60 economies, plus 50% metal duties, 25-100% sector rates, and country surcharges on Brazil and Canada.
Suppliers are increasingly citing "tariffs" to justify price increases that don't hold up to scrutiny โ while refund opportunities from invalidated duties often go unclaimed.
Our Q3 report breaks down current rates, where cost pressure is concentrated across indirect spend, and the questions to ask suppliers before accepting the next increase.

For most of 2026, tariff policy felt like a moving target โ emergency powers, a temporary surcharge, then a Supreme Court ruling that reset the whole framework.
As a new 60-economy Section 301 tariff baseline reshapes sourcing costs, procurement teams also have a real opening to recover value; the invalidation of prior IEEPA duties has created refund rights now processed through CBP's new CAPE system. This shift is changing how organizations approach tariff mitigation, from managing a single flat surcharge to negotiating recovery on duties already paid.
Our latest report breaks down what's changed since the Supreme Court's February ruling, where refund and negotiation leverage now sits, and what procurement leaders should do now to validate supplier tariff claims and protect margins through year-end.

Headcount reductions. Deferred capital spend. Renegotiated contracts. These are the tools finance leaders reach for when margin pressure hits โ and they're not wrong. They're just tactics.
Tactics end. Governance compounds.
The real gap isn't between companies that cut more and companies that cut less. It's between companies that manage indirect spend as an ongoing discipline โ and companies that discover, only when they look closely, how much of it was never really managed at all.
In his latest blog, Michael Braunschweiger, LogicSource Chief Client Value Officer, highlights why spend governance is what produces sustainable EBITDA improvement.

Most benefits teams have three seats filled: HR, Finance, and a broker. Who's in the fourth?
HR knows the workforce. Finance knows the budget pressure. The broker knows plan design. But none of them is built to pressure-test the carrier RFP, benchmark the PBM relationship, or vet the wave of new point-of-care vendors.
In this latest Employee Benefit News article, LogicSourceโs James Bouchard shares how procurement services can bring supplier evaluation discipline, sharper negotiation, and a total cost of ownership view that helps organizations make better decisions before renewal season creates pressure.

Gas was $3.66/gallon last year. It's $4.52 now. If your team negotiated it down to $3.95, is that a "savings" โ or does it not count because the price is still higher than last year?
In an environment of tariff shocks, freight volatility, and sticky services inflation, cost avoidance โ stopping price increases before they land โ can matter as much as a clean savings win. Savings is winning a negotiation. Avoidance is changing the terms so you don't have to keep winning the same one.
In his latest blog, Michael Braunschweiger, LogicSource Chief Client Value Officer, breaks down why CFOs need to value avoidance alongside savings โ and why the companies that don't will keep discovering what they should have prevented.

For much of this year, the expectation was simple: as supply chains stabilized, cost pressure would ease with them. That's not what we're seeing.
Construction input costs are still up 7.1% year over year. Far East ocean rates remain more than 230% above February levels. Health benefit costs are climbing past $18,500 per employee. Availability has improved โ but availability was never the only driver of cost.
What's emerging instead is fragmentation: pressure that no longer moves in one direction but builds unevenly across categories, each shaped by its own regulatory, labor, or capacity dynamics. That makes blanket cost strategies less effective and category-level visibility more essential than ever.
Our Q3 Sourcing Trends report breaks down where that pressure is building, with strategies from 200+ category experts and $200B+ in pricing data to help leaders stay ahead of it.

In most large health systems, non-clinical spend has no single owner.
IT sits with one team. Marketing with another. Facilities, staffing, and professional services, each negotiated on its own. The result is fragmented leverage and contracts that rarely get benchmarked against the broader market.
WellSpan Health, a 250-location system across Pennsylvania and Maryland, decided to change that. Working with LogicSource, it treated more than $300 million in non-clinical spend as one opportunity instead of a set of separate administrative tasks.
Cross-industry benchmarks replaced healthcare-only comparisons. Embedded experts ran the negotiations and RFPs. Department leaders kept control of their vendor decisions.
Year one: $7 million in savings.
By year three: over $35 million annualized, reinvested where it matters most.

Supply pressure is easing. That doesn't mean cost pressure is.
Even where availability has improved, supplier concentration, new regulations, and fast-moving AI adoption are creating risk that varies category by category. For CFOs and CPOs, that means balancing near-term savings against supplier continuity and data control โ while fuel, tariffs, and capacity keep total costs unpredictable across logistics, print, and packaging.
Our Q3 Sourcing Trends report breaks down the market dynamics across the indirect categories we manage, with actionable strategies drawn from 200+ category experts and $200B+ in pricing data to help protect margins and profitability.

When's the last time your benefits program went through a competitive RFP?
If the honest answer is "not recently" โ you're not alone. But with Medical & Rx costs up ~52% since 2015, and premiums rising 6โ10%+ annually, the cost of staying on autopilot keeps compounding.
Brokers are essential for benefits expertise. But procurement brings something different: independent market discipline, broader supplier options, and pressure on fees and rebates that a broker-only model can't always provide.
Our latest whitepaper breaks down why benefits planning needs to be procurement-enabled and how organizations are capturing 2โ10% in annual expense reduction, without sacrificing employee experience.
