JIW Shawn Gleason passed away Wednesday September 30, 2026 at the age of 46. He was a 28-year member of Local 25. He is survived by his wife Vanessa & daughter Charlotte; His dad is Patrick “Shorty” Gleason #922938 and his mom former L-25 secretary Rise Gleason. He was predeceased by his grandfather Eldon Gleason #490133.
Obituary:
GLEASON, Shawn Patrick– of Davison, age 46, passed away on September 30, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton St, Davison, MI 48423 on October 7, 2026; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment in Davison Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 3-7 PM at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd. Davison, MI 48423, and one hour before the Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Wednesday, October 7, 2026. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for his daughter, Charlotte.
Shawn was born in Flint, MI on May 16, 1980, son of Patrick “Shorty” and Rise (Starry) Gleason. He married Vanessa Waun in 2026. Shawn was a lifelong resident of Davison and graduated from Davison High School, class of 1998. He earned his associate’s degree in construction management and was a member of Iron Workers Local 25 for 28 years. Shawn was proud to be a third-generation Iron Worker, having worked on major renovations throughout Michigan including the Mackinac Bridge, the Blue Water Bridge, and the Renaissance Center.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, skiing and traveling. Some of his favorite times were spent in Houghton Lake, the U.P. and Colorado. He especially treasured the laughter and memories made in the U.P. at the Tomorrow Camp and Dirty Dozen Deer Hunting Camps.
Shawn loved spending quality time with family and friends, but most of all, with his daughter, Charlotte. They had many adventures together, whether it was a quick trip up north or vacationing to places like Florida and Hawaii.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Vanessa; daughters: Charlotte, Emmerson and Sydney; son, Logan; parents, Patrick and Rise Gleason; brother, Shayne (Meganne) Gleason; sister, Meghan (Eric) Knies; niece, Maya; nephews, Cole and Matthew; father and mother-in-law, Gregg and Melinda Castle; many other loving family members and friends.
A special thank you to Dr. Jamie Mills and team at the Rogel Cancer Center, U of M in Ann Arbor for their dedication and care.
