September is full of moments that remind us how far innovation and determination can take us. As an insurance agency focused on helping families navigate Medicare, individual health insurance, and important ancillary products, we love celebrating breakthroughs that shaped the way we understand health, science, and possibility.
Here are a few standout milestones from past Septembers:
🫀 September 2, 1952 – The first successful open-heart surgery using therapeutic hypothermia marked a major leap forward in modern medicine and paved the way for lifesaving care we rely on today.
🚀 September 5, 1977 – NASA launched Voyager 1, now the most distant human-made object in space, carrying a message meant to represent all of humanity.
🏗️ September 30, 1935 – Construction of the Hoover Dam began, showcasing what can be accomplished even in challenging times.
At Health Matters Insurance LLC, moments like these inspire our team to keep seeking better solutions, clearer guidance, and stronger support for the clients and referral partners we serve.
Which of these September milestones stands out to you? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
Carrier meetings and trainings are officially getting underway, and we’re busy learning about the **2027 Medicare changes** so we can be ready to help our clients make informed decisions.
Stay tuned- starting October 1st we’ll have more information to share with you about what’s changing, what’s staying the same and what it could mean for you!

Extreme summer heat can take a real toll on your health, and our team wants to help you stay safe as temperatures rise.
Here are a few simple ways to protect yourself during very hot days:
• Stay inside during the hottest part of the afternoon when you can.
• Drink water consistently, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
• Choose lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing when outdoors.
• Use fans or air conditioning, or visit a cooling center if your home gets too warm.
• Keep an eye out for signs of heat exhaustion like dizziness, nausea, confusion, or headache.
• Be mindful of certain medications that can hinder your body's ability to regulate temperate or accelerate dehydration (diuretics, antihistamines, antidepressants, blood pressure, heart medications and stimulants).
These small habits can make a big difference in preventing heat-related illness. If you’re unsure how extreme heat might impact your medications or overall health, it’s always a good idea to check in with your doctor.
And if you’d like to review your current health coverage or explore options like hospital indemnity, dental plans, or other supplemental products, our team at Health Matters Insurance is always here to help. Call us anytime at 636-849-1004.

With summer travel ramping up, we’re sharing a few reminders about how Medicare coverage works when you’re away from home.
A lot of people assume their benefits travel with them everywhere, but that’s not always true. A little preparation before your trip can make a big difference. Reviewing your plan ahead of time can help you avoid surprises and feel more confident as you travel.
If you want help double-checking your Medicare plan before heading out for summer travel, our team at Health Matters Insurance is always here to walk you through the details. Give us a call at 636-849-1004 and we’ll get you ready for the road ahead.
