After further testing, the culprit was a failed fan motor. The repair would have cost around $1,200, but there was another important factor to consider: the system was 18 years old.
This is a conversation we have with homeowners all the time. Sometimes repairing the system is absolutely the right choice. Other times, investing that money into a new system makes more financial sense.
Our job isn't to tell you what to do. It's to give you all the information, explain your options honestly, and help you make the decision that's best for your home and your budget. In this case, the homeowner chose to replace the system instead of repairing an 18-year-old unit.
