How far would you go to find a pair of boots that fit?
Last Thursday, one of my closest friends and her beautiful daughter Imogen visited from the UK, and they had one request: could we go to the office and try on some boots?
Imogen has always struggled to find wide calf boots that fit her. We’ve talked about getting her a pair for years, so this was a long time coming.
And Imogen is someone special. She’s young, plus sized and proud of the person she is. Simply put, she is incredible. Since leaving university she has worked incredibly hard in her new position, and she has big plans. She deserves boots that make her feel as good as she looks.
So we got up early, and 240km and a 3 hour drive later, we were there. But we didn’t just turn up and try things on. We did it properly:
Browsed the website together to see which styles she loved
Measured her calves and ankles, with and without jeans, so we knew exactly what she needed
Calves: 57 cm (about 22.4”) | Ankles: 27 cm (about 10.6”) | Feet: EU 41 (US 9.5/10)
Imogen sat right between an XXL and an # # , so we started with the XXL. The office had her selection ready, and her brief was clear: something smart for her job in HR, with a heel, in a versatile colour.
She chose the Leyburn, Hessle and Adana. Three very different styles, each using elastic in its own way to get the best fit. Leyburn fit beautifully (I forgot to take a photo, oops!), but Imogen had already fallen for Hessle and Adana and only had eyes for them.
And the look on her face when she got into her first pair of knee high boots? Worth every mile. 💛

As a girl who’s struggled with wide feet, big ankles and large calves her whole life, I know exactly how it feels searching for boots that actually fit.
Even the “wide calf” options are barely wide enough, in the calf or the foot. And when you finally find a pair that works? They only come in black. Standard.

Fit isn’t one-size. So our sizing isn’t either.
Most wide calf boots are built around a single “standard” calf width and hope for the best.
Ours are built around a fitting system, M/L through to # # , up to 24”. So instead of squeezing into the nearest available option, you’re choosing the one actually built for your calf and leg shape. Because, let’s face it, it’s normal for us to come in different shapes and sizes! Right?
