Relentless Pursuit of Excellence

Krause Performance builds dominant athletes by increasing their explosive speed, powerful acceleration and reactive agility so they can play at the highest youth levels and eventually at the college level.

Every sport is a speed sport, because every sport is asking the athlete to put force into the ground fast. Speed is trainable, and it does not take hours a week to train it. And the engine you build decides how good every skill on top of it can look.

Which leaves one honest question: where is your athlete right now?

You cannot build a plan around a guess. So come in and let us measure it.

Let's find out what their engine is capable of. DM for more information or to book your Athlete Analysis today

Coaches Do Not Cut The Fast Kid

Skill is the driver. Speed is the engine. Think about a sports car for a second.

You can put a world class driver behind the wheel, and if the engine is weak, they still lose the straightaway. The driver decides where the car goes. The engine decides how much car there is to drive.

Sport skill is the driver. Ball handling, route running, footwork at the net, reading a pitcher. It is real, it matters, and it is what most families spend their money on.

Speed and power are the engine. And here is the part that surprises parents: a bigger engine makes every skill look better, without changing a single thing about the skill itself.

Same crossover, more explosive first step, and now it is a blow by instead of a contested shot. Same route, more top end speed, and now there is a step of separation instead of a jump ball. Same swing mechanics, more force into the ground, and now the ball leaves the bat harder. Same approach at the net, and now they are hitting over the block instead of into it.

Nothing about the skill changed. The engine driving it got stronger, so the skill got expressed at a higher level.

This is why the faster, more explosive athlete is always the more valuable athlete on a roster. Coaches build around athletes who create separation and close space, because those athletes make everything else easier for everyone around them. That has been true in every sport I have ever coached in.

And unlike height or hand size, the engine is trainable. It is also the part of the athlete almost nobody actually trains.

Sprinting at top speed is the highest force output an athlete can produce. At full stride, the foot is on the ground for roughly a tenth of a second. In that sliver of time the body must produce force several times the athlete's own body weight, or they collapse. Nothing else in training demands force that large, that fast.

That quality has a name. Rate of force development. How much force an athlete can create, and how quickly they can create it.

Why does that matter to you? Well, look at your athlete's sport.

The first step to a loose ball. The block at the net. The jump off one leg at the rim. The rotation into a swing or throw. The cut that leaves a defender standing still. The push off the boards. Every one of those asks the same question: how much force can you put into the ground, right now?

Sprinting is one of the most effective ways we can train an athlete to express the exact quality every sport is quietly demanding. Faster athletes are more powerful athletes.

That is the engine under the hood of every position on every field or court.

If you're curious what your athlete's engine looks like on paper, get tested to see how you can become more powerful. DM for more information.

August was a great finish to the summer program. Proud of all our athletes who showed up consistently and worked so hard to make progress throughout the summer.

Fall training starts now, stay fast stay healthy... don't stop training when the season starts!

Speed fades fast, and it starts before you can see it. Eight to twelve weeks without real speed work can cost an athlete a full mile per hour off their top speed and nearly 13% of their power. And the most common injuries in youth sports — non-contact ACL tears, pulled hamstrings — are the ones speed training is built to prevent.

Every one of those problems has the same solution, and it's smaller than you'd think. Not more volume. Not another thing to be exhausted by. Just consistent, high-quality speed work through the season.

Here's what that produces. Athletes training at a USR Speed Lab like ours average:

+1.76" on their vertical jump in 90 days

+5" on their broad jump in 90 days

That's not maintenance. That's athletes getting more explosive while they compete.

And this isn't a handful of kids. Speed Labs across the country logged 29,162 personal records between June 1 and August 4 this year. The athletes who kept training kept improving. The exact same thing works in-season.

So here's the honest pitch: your athlete is going to spend the next three months competing. They can spend those three months slowly losing what they built this summer, or they can spend them getting faster and harder to hurt.

That's what the Year-Round Athlete Development Program at Krause Performance is for. Low fatigue, high quality, built around their game schedule. The schedule is set to begin September 8th, giving our athletes the opportunity to attend up to 3 sessions per week throughout the year, including a spot for next summer as well.

Week 8, final week of summer, Youth and MS groups bringing the PRs! Let's finish strong! Universal Speed Rating Powered by SHREDmill

You don't have to choose, playing the season and keeping your speed aren't opposites. Speed isn’t something you build in the summer and then store.

It's a skill.

Skills need to be touched, or they fade. Athletes who continue to treat speed that way finish the season faster, healthier, and ahead of where they started rather than rebuilding what was lost. It takes far less work to hold onto speed than it does to rebuild it. A little bit, done right, done consistently, protects everything you've earned this summer.

Stay fast. Stay healthy. Come out of this season faster than you went in. It's not a big time commitment. It's just a consistent one.
