What an awesome and needed event! Way to go, People's Health- Family Planning Program!

Last night we were able to provide our community with our first Be in the Know period class!!!

We had such a great time with everyone who attended and are so grateful to Prairie Arts Center for donating the beautiful space to hold this training!!

We heard from a panel of experienced community members, including Brooke Janas, APRN from Platte Valley Women's Healthcare, Jodi Sonneman, the director of People's Health, and Avery Thayer, a young adolescent.

Together, we learned about menstruation and how our bodies change; we laughed, ate lots of snacks, and enjoyed making our own period kits to have available for "just in case moments."

Thank you to our community who donated bags for the girls to be able to make their own unique kit!!

Also, thanks to Access Period for donating the period supplies to help ensure everyone in our community has access to clean period products!!

If you missed the class and would like to attend one in the future, leave a comment so we know when to plan the next session!!

Today we got to celebrate Partnership 4 Hope at their inaugural bowling fundraiser! P4H was our first partner, acted as our fiscal agent while we ensured Access Period was viable, and has served as a constant source of inspiration and support. A big thanks and congratulations to our dear friends at P4H!

Access Period presented our five millionth period product to CIRA Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement’s Sophia Ibrahimi at the On Brand Conference. When we started in 2022, we weren't sure if people would cringe if "period" was in our name, let alone support our cause so fully, but the response has traveled farther and faster than we ever imagined.

Those five million products add up to over 1 million worry-free days for people who menstruate. Days spent living, learning, and working like everyone else.

We chose to mark this milestone by honoring CIRA, one of our earliest partners. CIRA serves immigrant and refugee communities across our region, where many people don't feel safe speaking up about needing period products. Their work helps people build the lives they came to this country to find, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to work alongside them and all of our partners who work every day to ensure that life is accessible for the people they serve.

Thank you to Raj Lulla for sharing his keynote stage with us for this milestone, and for expertly weaving together all the people, stories, and moments that came to create Access Period: our team, donors, volunteers, board members, partners, and most of all, the people who trust us with something as personal as their period. We will never know the real ripple effect of one million days when people could fully participate in life, but we will keep working and celebrating until access is universal.

A few hours, a lot of teamwork, and 5,000 tampons packed for Access Period!
Access to period products should not be a barrier. We’re so proud to support the folks helping change that 🤍

Yesterday we shared a piece from The Reader about our partnership with the Douglas County Health Department to stock their free Health Resource Vending Machines. Today, a volunteer group from Children's Nebraska came to The Pad to pack the boxes that are distributed through the vending machines.

Every vending box is packed by volunteers, just like all of our kits. We are grateful Children’s Nebraska spent their time on it!
