The Crime Scene!

Yesterday, I prepared and baked the following to make stew and egusi soup:

- 3 packs of stew beef
- 4 chicken breasts
- 3 chicken thighs

I forgot tomato paste and had to rush to the grocery store to pick some up. I returned in about 10 minutes, only to find that the entire tray of seasoned, marinated, and tenderized meat I had left on the kitchen counter, along with the other ingredients, was GONE.

I found the empty tray on the kitchen floor, while the aluminum sheet I used for baking was in the living room near the couch. The kitchen floor was spotless; the entire tray was licked clean, and a very guilty-looking dog sat on the couch on the porch, staring blankly in the opposite direction, pretending she could not hear or see me.

There was no mess anywhere, not a single trace, and it seemed as if the meat had been raptured!

That was a lot of meat! How can anyone or anything eat that much in less than 10 minutes? I am still in shock!

Justice Is Served!

Nala was found guilty on all charges of theft, interfering with culinary processes, wasting time, attempting to conceal evidence, obstructing justice, emotional pain, and inflicting trauma on an American who was born and raised in Nigeria through willful conduct aimed at conversion to a vegan.

For these crimes, except for count #3 (attempting to conceal evidence), of which she was found not guilty, the judge sentenced Nala to her kennel for one full day plus an hour per dollar of the estimated total value of the heist. Each term will run concurrently, and she will not be eligible for parole until Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The court is adjourned!

Moral of the story!

Crime doesn't pay. If you commit the crime, you will have to serve the time.

Key relationships require intentionality.

A couple of days ago, I had breakfast with Michael Perdunn, Sr. Director at OakTruss Group and an alumnus of AIM Institute’s IT Leadership Academy (now Elevate Academy).

Michael and I go back to our time at Omaha Public Power District, and over the years we’ve stayed connected in simple ways—weekend soccer, the occasional breakfast, and the occasional WhatsApp message. Nothing elaborate. Just intentional.

Those small touchpoints matter more than we realize.

Our conversation focused on ideas aligned with AIM Institute’s Vision 2030 and our theme . It reminded me that the relationships we nurture over time often become the ones that help us reimagine, rebuild, and move forward together.

As Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, once said:

“The fastest way to change yourself is to hang out with people who are already the way you want to be.”

Grateful for the friendship, the conversation, and the shared commitment to strengthening our community.
