We took advantage of the bye week for hockey on Wednesday during this transition from winter to spring seasons to swap out our bench flooring. It’s very rare that we have a day with zero hockey games on the schedule, so we made the most of it and checked that project off the spring cleanup list.

There is always something that needs taken care of, and our multitalented crew always gets it done.

We hope you all are watching the Olympics and enjoying the amazing performances all of these athletes are putting 100% of what they have on the line in search of that elusive gold medal.

Some of the things we have seen so far are absolutely mind blowing if you take a moment to soak it all in and think about. Ilia Malinin landed a flip on one foot in the figure skating team competition to help Team USA secure the gold medal. He wasn’t even born until 6 years after Surya Bonaly landed the same trick in the 1998 games in protest of it being a banned trick - she took the deduction in scoring and the backlash - and 28 years later it was a legal part of the medal winning program.

Team USA dominated Canada today in the prelim game. Hillary Knight, a 5 time Olympian tied the USA all time point record in the victory. She’s been playing Hockey at the Olympic level since 2 years before a graduating high school senior was born. But without Cammi Granato and the 1998 Women’s team setting the stage with the addition of Women’s Hockey in 1998 it wouldn’t have been possible.

Take a moment and remind your kids as they watch the games that what you accomplish in sport, just as in life is about never giving up, never skipping out on that opportunity, and remembering that someone did it or something similar before you, but you can always try to do it better and they often will be the first to congratulate you when you succeed.
