What an incredible evening serving as keynote speaker for the League of Women Voters Corpus Christi Area Women’s Equality Day Celebration.

I opened with “This Little Light of Mine” and challenged us to become architects of a new nation—to imagine the world we want and then organize to build it.

Near the end, I said:

One light may seem small. But put it beside another…and another…and another…and suddenly you’ve lit up the whole damn room.

Baby, LWV Corpus Christi UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT! 🙌🏾🔦✨

Cellphone lights went up across the room.

THAT is collective power.

We are the architects.
We are the organizers.
We are the voters.
And WE are the light.

Let it shine! ✨

We believe in loving where we live, and he works HARD to make our home and yard beautiful—even in this SUPER HOT Texas heat! ☀️🔥

What makes this even better: he asked our HOA for permission to landscape outside of their standard guidelines. They gave him the green light, and BABY… he totally owned it! 🌳🌺🌿

He had a vision, put in the work, and now the neighborhood said, “Yep, THAT yard!” 🏆

I love watching him take pride in our home and make it uniquely ours.

Grateful to stand with and Senator Royce West this morning at the African American Museum of Dallas as we marked the 61st anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. 🗳️✊🏾
Black Voters Matter was honored to be part of this moment — alongside elected officials, faith leaders, and community advocates — as we talked about what it takes to move Texas . Fittingly, it took place inside the museum’s “Mandela” exhibition — a powerful reminder that the struggle for voting rights extends far beyond America’s borders. The fight for the ballot didn’t end in 1965, and neither does our work.
Thank you for the invitation, the platform, and the partnership. On to the next fight. 💚🖤❤️

My four babies gifted me tickets to see Mary J Blige in Las Vegas for Mother’s Day, and I am SO here for it. 🎤✨

Tonight isn’t about titles or to-do lists — it’s about a mama getting to be poured into for once. My kids see me, and this gift proves it.
