Why SOL? Origin story 🕊️❤️‍🔥⛪️

Many people have asked us where the name SOL came from, what it stands for, and why we chose it and honestly, it’s a story that goes way back.

10 years ago God birthed a young adults movement in Myrtle Beach, Coastal Carolina University, called Young & Free. Young people on fire for Jesus, loving others & seeking freedom that couldn’t be found in every day things.

One night at 230AM in this same season, we began praying through a name change, & the Holy Spirit brought a word from 2 Corinthians 3:17:

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

College students wanted freedom. We wanted freedom. We can’t get free on our own. Our efforts weren’t enough.

SOL — Spirit Of the Lord movement was born.

That ministry became a huge part of our story with God. It’s where we met & spent years leading and serving alongside an incredible friends. Eventually, the Lord made it clear that our time there was complete. We moved to Charleston, and the chapter of SOL came to a close.

This year 2026, the Lord began stirring our hearts toward planting a church & obeying with full hearts. We found ourselves coming back to the name SOL again and again. We prayed & fasted, we sought the Lord deeply asking the questions! Again? Old dreams? It’s been 7 years maturing in our faith & family? Now?!

The more we prayed, there was peace & vision.

On April 11th—the very day we felt the Lord clearly confirm Myrtle Beach as the region we were being called to plant—we were at a birthday party in Orlando FL. We pleaded, “give us a sign Lord.”

In that moment, a stranger introduced themselves to us saying “my name is SOL.”

So why SOL?

Because we believe people encounter true freedom & healing in the presence of the Lord.

Not personas, labels, brands, or our own efforts…

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord.” Zechariah 4:6

We believe SOL to be gathering place of His people, for His name & for His glory. Authentic.

We must move out of the way & allow the Lord to move our hearts, thoughts, ideas & strategies.

WE ARE MOVING.

To plant a church .myrtle in the heart of Myrtle Beach.

Built on prayer, the presence of God & people.

This has been a 7 year dream in our hearts that the Lord revealed again to us, over the last few months. We met & fell in love in this place. This is the biggest “Yes” for our family. A season of life filled with seeking, prayer, fasting, friendships, community & many more. 2026 confirmed in us a calling to minster full time, build a House for His glory & began again. This time with our three children, Cash, Cruz, and Phoenix.

Over the years, God has been so kind to our family. Providing every step of the way, allowing us to cultivate a life we love in Orlando with so many friends. We can honestly say He has been in every detail. This is a fire that began to grow in our bones that we couldn’t ignore.

THIS IS A HUGE STEP FOR OUR FAMILY. In the next 30 days, we are moving to Myrtle. We would love to invite you into this journey, in prayer & financial partnership. We are praying & believing for 120+ kingdom partners as we move in faith.

Not by accident ❤️ a story about being a Dad & discipleship.

This picture brought me to tears. My 5 year old son. For a long time now he’s watched men gather in my house, in the garage, for workouts & time with God. I’ve never told my son to do these things with me. I’ve never said it’s his job, or his chore, or a rule in being my kid. But somewhere along the way recently - he asks.

Daddy, can I put my workout clothes on & join the guys?
Daddy, can I have an extra Bible?
Daddy, what page are we on?
Daddy, what are their names? Who is each guy?

Now, what I have shared with him all along is this:
This is why I do this son.
I love the Lord, I love these men.
I love fitness because it helps me be better for our family.
Names are important son - it shows that you care.
If anything, care deeply about people.

Our kids see an example enough times & they begin to ask why? Why this? What for?

A child wants to follow an example - especially when they see fruit, benefits, joy. It’s the Lord.

To me, this picture is not about what Carson does or doesn’t do, but it’s a picture of our kids when they see a culture they want to follow. They see something they want to be apart of. In Love, they want to join.

It’s emotional for me just reflecting on God’s goodness.

The home is the ministry home base.
Discipleship starts with our kids & what they catch.
If not there - then Where?

I realized last week that when I see my son asks for a Bible, turned to Colossians 1, ask for workout clothes, introduce himself to other men, sit, pay attention, pray & ask what’s next - it is not by accident.

It’s a culture & heartbeat that is built.

What am I building? What are we building? What do our kids feel invited into? What am I doing every day to bring them on mission? What could I start doing today that would impact the future?

Go out & make disciples.

Another strong trip for BHP MEN this month to kick off a new season & exciting year.

Our mission is clear: grow, train, develop, disciple.

Every man wants to grow.
Every man needs to train because life is hard.
Development has no finish line. Take a next step.
Every moment to see God, know Him & live well.

You could be single, dating, married, a father, business owner, leader or trying to figure out one next step - men need men. We take notes. We push the body. We are open to feedback. We want stronger minds & spirits that bless our families. The journey never ends.

I believe confidence, clarity & getting specific are essential to forming men for every day life.

It takes getting uncomfortable.
Sharing your life.
Sharing fears, tears, heartache & surrender.
God meets us. He sees you.
Then we take steps met with accountability.

This is not about best or worst, guilt or shame.

It’s men. Being human. Navigating us, our lives, our habits, those we love & operating better.

I love seeing guys break through.
I love seeing small wins turn into life change.
I love seeing HOMES better because the man is better.
