August 31 is recognized as International Overdose Awareness Day, an annual campaign to remember those who have died from overdose without stigma and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind.
This yearโs theme, โ25 Years On. Still Needed.โ recognizes that overdose continues to affect individuals, families, and communities, while reminding us that overdose is preventable.
Today, we continue to raise awareness about overdose prevention, recognizing the signs of an overdose, and available resources.
To support overdose prevention in our community, free Narcan is available at the Paramus Health Department.

Bergen County Mosquito Control will be performing ULV truck spraying in Paramus on Thursday, July 30, from 10:00 PM to 11:59 PM.
Residents can take following precautions to reduce exposure:
โข Pay attention to notices about spraying found through newspapers, websites, automated telephone messages or notices distributed by municipal, county or state agencies.
โข Plan your activities to limit time spent outside during times of possible insecticide treatments.
โข Move your pets, their food, and water dishes inside during ULV application. Also bring clothing and childrenโs toys inside.
โข Stay away from application equipment, whether in use or not.
โข Whenever possible, remain indoors with windows closed and with window air conditioners on non-vent (closed to the outside air) and window fans turned off during spraying.
โข Avoid direct contact with surfaces that are still wet from pesticide spraying. Do not allow children to play in areas that have been sprayed until they have completely dried (approximately one hour).
โข If you must remain outdoors, avoid eye and skin contact with the spray. If you get spray in your eyes or on your skin, immediately flush and rinse with water.
