🍂Curb side leaf collection season🍂 is now in effect! Please remember the following:
🔥do not park on top of leaf piles...this is a fire hazard and yes, it actually does happen! (people parking on top of them AND fires)
🚫per DEP regulations NOTHING MAY BE PLACED WITH IN 10 FEET OF A STORM DRAIN! Yes, this includes leaves!
🚫do not park in a way that blocks leaf piles. This hinders our trucks from collecting.
🚯do not put stumps 🪵, logs, pumpkins 🎃, sticks , rocks, pet waste 💩 etc. into the piles. This is a hazard and can cause damage to our vehicles during collection.
❌there is NO schedule for curb side collection. If you are having a party or just want to ensure your leaves are collected weekly, please continue to bag/contain your leaves and put them to the curb Tuesday evening for Wednesday pick up.
🍁Crews will begin on one side of town and work their way through the entire town before starting over. This will continue throughout leaf season.
🚒please do not cover fire hydrants with leaves! While it may seem harmless at the time, if the pile becomes too high the fire department will lose site of the hydrant and in the event of a fire every second counts!
❌While this last one isn't seen very often these days, please do not allow your children or pets to play in the leaf piles on the street. This is a huge safety hazard so let them jump in them on your yard and THEN put them into the street.

💡Trivia Tuesday💡
When can we start putting leaves into the curb line for collection and how does it work?
Good question!
-You can start putting LEAVES 🍂 into the curbline for collection beginning Monday October 5th! Crews will start collecting at one end of town and work through until they finish. Once they have finished it is rinse and repeat until the collection season ends.
-The last day residents (this includes landscapers) may put leaves loose into the curb is Sunday November 29th!
-Crews will begin their final pass starting Monday November 30th. Once they have completed a street it will be marked off as done on our giant map of the town! If you think we are kidding...no it is literally a giant map of the town! 😁 We are not totally stuck in the past we do have a spreadsheet too!
-Quality of life officers as well as DPW foremen will be out issuing violations to anyone putting leaves out past the Sunday November 29th deadline.
-There is NO schedule. If you want to guarantee leaves are collected weekly, please continue to bag them in bio-degradable lawn/leaf bags or store-bought containers and put them out Tuesday evenings for Wednesday pick up. Leaves only.
-do NOT put anything within 10 (ten) feet of a storm drain. This is a DEP regulation and leaves you open to violations through them.
-do NOT mix items into the piles. This includes sticks/branches/tree stumps/hay bales with the string/plastic from Halloween/pumpkins/pet waste/rocks etc.
-do NOT park on the leaf piles. It is a fire hazard and prevents us from collecting.
-do not park blocking leaf piles. We have big vehicles so if we cannot safely get to the piles we will leave them.
-we do NOT do special pickups so if you call us asking to schedule a curb side pickup please be sure they are bagged/contained and put out Tuesday evening.

Today 9.25.26, DPW participated in a local Touch-a-truck event. Events such as these allow for people (adults and children) to see some of our vehicles and ask questions. There may even be a demo on certain vehicles which everyone seems to enjoy.
If you are interested in hosting a touch-a-truck for a school please feel free to give us a call and if our availability allows we always enjoy getting out there and showing our fun stuff!
