🚫 Groot carts should NOT be kept or reused - they will be collected separately.

Park Ridge waste hauling update –

Big changes are coming to Park Ridge's waste hauling contract this Spring, and the City will be rolling out a ton of information in the coming weeks.

Big changes are coming to Park Ridge's waste hauling contract this Spring, and the City will be rolling out a ton of information in the coming weeks.

When this was first announced, my inbox lit up with questions — so I wanted to give you a little preview of some key answers today!

Here's what we know so far:

Your Collection Day Stays the Same!
Garbage, recycling, and yard waste/food scrap pickup will still happen on your designated day between 7AM–6PM.

Bulk items too big for your cart?
SBC picks up up to 2 bulk items per week at no extra charge — just set them next to your cart by 7AM on collection day. Appliances are also picked up free of charge!

Yard waste & food scraps yard waste collection will run through the last full week of December, on the same day as your regular pickup. Food scraps will be able to be commingled with yard waste in a 35, 65, or 95-gal cart (not accepted in brown bags).

We still will have community composting sites for those in apartments, condos, and townhouses.

If you have a yard waste cart from the previous hauler, it can still be used — you will just call SBC to get an identifying sticker applied, or pick one up at City Hall or the Service Center.

New Carts Coming in April 2026!
SBC will deliver one 95-gal garbage cart and one 65-gal recycling cart to every home starting in April 2026. Need a different size? You can swap sizes free of charge within the first 6 months by calling SBC.

Additional carts will be available for purchase as well.
