Is there a past memory that you would like to move on from, perhaps one that still carries with it “the sting of death,” fear or shame? Most of us do. Upon invitation, Jesus can enter in and bring relief and release from a memory’s crippling effects. It is important to note that though the facts and circumstances of the memory remain, Jesus’ “take charge” presence will forever transform that memory’s atmosphere with an aroma of His LIFE having intervened!

The GIFT of REPENTANCE THE GIFT OF REPENTANCE (Yes to LIFE!) by Andrea C. Hunter SCRIPTURES: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my fa
THE HEALING POWER OF FORGIVENESS
(excerpted from Embracing LIFE Series and More Power! Understanding and Experiencing the Cross)

SCRIPTURE
Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing. Luke 23:34
AT THE CORE OF HEALING is the forgiveness we have received from God through Jesus’ blood atonement for our sins. Our ability to forgive and receive forgiveness can produce in us the Christlikeness our redeemed souls are yearning to experience. Refusal to forgive and we carry the heavy weight of its consequences…
Case in point: I was given an opportunity to share about our AIDS outreach in a class at UCLA almost 30 years ago. The exchange I had with a student there was so meaningful I recall it vividly today! The professor had invited me to state my case for what I believed to be the unique aspects of Christian ministry [As compared to secular or other spiritual means] to people with AIDS. While explaining the significance of Christ’s forgiveness of sins as a vital healing in itself, a student in the front row interrupted me with, “I don’t think forgiveness is such a big deal.” Realizing this could be a teaching moment I said, “O.K. But let me ask you: Is there someone you’ve had difficulty forgiving?” The young woman paused for a moment and replied: “Yeah. My boyfriend. He cheated on me!” I replied, “So…If it’s really not that big a deal, can you try forgiving him, now?” Visibly uncomfortable, tears welling up as she tried to contain her upset, she adamantly chose not to answer. The packed classroom sat in silence. It was painful to watch. It was also clear to everyone in the room, forgiveness is a big deal!
If we stubbornly refuse to release others from real or imagined wrongdoing, our lives become loaded down with all kinds of sin: envy, covetousness, malice, vengeance, pride, and self-righteousness – even contributing to physical infirmity (e.g.: the paralytic in Mark 2: 1-5). When we forgive the other, we forgive as Jesus forgave us while we were yet sinners. In so doing, new life and restorative healing is released by the grace and power of God’s Spirit at work in us.
REFLECT:
Can you remember a time when you were conflicted over forgiving someone?
What were the negative emotional/mental effects of hesitating or refusing to do so?
Recall a life story of forgiving something you thought was impossible to forgive. How has the LORD’s forgiveness—or the forgiveness of another—positively impacted your life?
PRAYER:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Strengthen me by the might of YOUR power in my inner man. I choose to join You in the ministry of reconciliation. I choose to be merciful even as You are ever merciful to me. I choose to forgive, knowing I’m forgiven. I choose not to judge knowing then I will not be judged, for with the measure I use, it will be measured to me. OH God, form in me Your heart of Love.
AMEN!

LIGHT: THE THUMBPRINT OF GOD
by KJ Allison
for MORE LIFE! MONDAYS
SCRIPTURE:
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 KJV
DISCOVERY:
Light was the first thing God made of His creation. It bears His signature: "God is light" (1 John 1:5).
Light in this physical world is a template of the spiritual realm. It moves at a constant rate: the speed of light (186,000 miles per second) and provides a boundary between this realm and the spiritual realm. It does not age, therefore seems eternal. It has no mass, therefore is not considered matter. But it transmits energy and heat (electromagnetism and radiation). In physics, it is called a photon. It interacts with us, but it itself is not matter.
Light also carries information (don't ask me how). It provides contrast. Without light, there would be no shadows (which form when something blocks light's rays). When God, shining in His own uncreated Light, created our light, He divided it from the darkness (cf. Gen 1:4)—So that it could be seen by us I guess. "Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee." (Ps. 139:12, KJV)
In atoms, electrons need energy to move to a higher energy level. This boost is provided by its corresponding photon. You see, photons are specialized. Every natural element (atom) has its own resonant photon. And light comes in visible and invisible varieties. The seven colors which hide in white light are visible to us, but there are also the invisible ones: long radio waves (photons move in waves), microwaves, infrared, ultraviolet (which some animals can see), x-rays, and the short but powerful gamma rays.
Everything on earth is composed of atoms and atoms have their photons. Thus light infiltrates everything. We are made of light. Light is like the Spirit of Truth which is everywhere present and fills all things (as it declares in the daily prayer of the ancient—and today's—Church). We abide in light… "Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation" (Ps. 91:9 KJV); and "LORD, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations" (Ps. 90:1 by Moses).
Light is often mentioned in Scripture: "In him was life, and the life was the light of men...."; continuing "That [Jesus] was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world" (John 1:4,9 KJV). And the most intriguing of all, “in thy Light shall we see light" (Ps. 36:9 KJV).
Massless photons conduct heat and energy without which we could not live. It is in all parts of our physical bodies. In our glorified bodies, we shall see the light shining as Jesus body shone on Mt Tabor. "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." (1 John 3:2 KJV) GOD IS LIGHT
REFLECT:
In John 14:23 Jesus said, “If a man love Me, he will keep My words; and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him and make Our abode with him.” The thought of Your indescribable LIGHT and LOVE living in—inhabiting us... as we LIVE in YOU—is above and beyond all words and imagination.
PRAYER:
Oh GOD, Thank You that You are willing to make our hearts YOUR HOME. Keep us keeping Your words. We commit by Your grace to living in, with, and by YOUR LIGHT. Our God, YOU are “the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, Who alone is immortal and Who lives in unapproachable LIGHT. We bow in awe and give YOU, the LORD of LIFE and LIGHT, all the glory and honor due YOUR name forever...and ever. AMEN
