🚨 NEW GIRL ALERT: SASHA HAS ENTERED THE BUILDING 🚨
Sasha is about one year old, weighs approximately 37 pounds and is technically considered a smaller-to-medium-sized dog.
“Technically” is doing an enormous amount of work in that sentence.
Because while Sasha may only weigh 37 pounds, this girl has bounce.
Not regular bounce.
Not “happy little dog hopping around the yard” bounce.
We are talking Simone Biles-level elevation.
One moment she is standing beside you.
The next, she is airborne.
Then she lands perfectly, looks stunning and acts as though none of us just witnessed a physics violation.
The judges give her a 10.
Sasha believes she deserved an 11.
We have also begun quietly discussing the possibility that there may be an itty-bitty, teensy-weensy, almost legally insignificant amount of Belgian Malinois somewhere in her genetic paperwork.
We do not say this loudly.
We gather in small groups.
We lower our voices.
We glance around the room.
Then someone whispers:
“Do you think there could be a little… Belgian?”
And everyone immediately says:
“Shhhhh.”
To be clear, Sasha is absolutely a mix.
We are not saying she is a Belgian Malinois.
We are simply saying that somewhere, buried deep within the family tree, there may have been one highly athletic Belgian relative who contributed three things:
• Vertical lift
• Laser focus
• A complete disregard for the limitations of gravity
We strongly suspect Sasha might enjoy a flirt pole, agility classes or any activity that allows her to move at full Sasha capacity while the rest of us stand nearby holding clipboards and pretending we are in control.
But the athleticism is only part of the story.
Sasha is also stunning.
And we do not use that word lightly.
She is oh my gosh, who is that new girl? stunning.
She is the mysterious middle-school transfer student who just arrived from California in a tiny Rhode Island town.
She steps off the bus.
The wind catches her hair.
Someone drops their books.
The entire cafeteria goes silent.
No one knows her story yet, but everyone already wants to sit at her table.
Sasha walks into a room and people immediately look at each other like:
“Okay, but seriously. Who is she?”
She has that effortless kind of beauty that makes every photograph look like it belongs on a movie poster.
Meanwhile, Sasha is not remotely concerned with the effect she is having on the general population.
She is busy making friends, loving other dogs and preparing for her next unapproved aerial maneuver.
Yes, Sasha loves other dogs.
She is social, playful and extremely interested in recruiting a canine best friend who can keep up with her, or at least remain supportive from ground level.
Applications for Sasha may be submitted under the title:
“I Am Emotionally Prepared for the New Girl.”
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HORI/Dog
Applicants should be ready to provide:
• A secure yard and a respectful understanding of vertical clearance
• Proof that they can operate a flirt pole without losing consciousness
• A written statement confirming they will not attempt to outshine her
• References from at least two people who believe they can handle a minor celebrity
• A willingness to investigate agility classes immediately
• Formal acknowledgment that the word “Belgian” may only be spoken in a whisper
• A detailed plan for supporting her inevitable Olympic campaign
Please SHARE Sasha with everyone you know.
She is beautiful.
She is brilliant.
She is bouncy.
She may or may not be quietly powered by Belgium.
And she is currently accepting applications from families prepared to be completely mesmerized. ✨🐾

🚧 CAUTION: CARHARTT AT WORK 🚧
Carhartt is, by far, one of the cutest dogs I have ever met.
Please DO NOT tell Oggie I said that.
This ridiculously handsome boy has been stationed in my office for the past few days while recovering from surgery, and we have already had several serious “come to Jesus” conversations regarding his complete refusal to remain calm.
Carhartt had surgery seven weeks ago to repair an avulsion of the tibial tuberosity, an injury near his knee. His recovery instructions state that he should remain calm and activity-restricted for approximately 8–12 weeks.
Could someone please explain that to him?
We have tried.
Carhartt believes “activity restriction” means he should only launch himself through the air on special occasions. He also feels that bouncing, wiggling, climbing into laps, attempting light parkour and hurling his entire body toward anyone he loves should be classified as emotional support rather than exercise.
When I sternly tell him to settle down because I am terrified he will damage something, he slowly lowers his head and looks at me with one of the most devastating stares the world has ever seen.
His face says:
I trusted you.
I defended you.
I thought what we had was real.
And now you are asking me to sit down.
Then, five minutes later, all is forgiven. His head is back in my lap, those gorgeous blue-gray eyes are staring up at me, and he is acting as though our brief legal dispute over appropriate post-operative activity never happened.
Carhartt is around seven months old and the most adorable size. He has a beautiful bully-shaped head, a bottom lip that sticks out as though he has just received devastating news, and a wonderfully unusual coat. It is incredibly soft, softer than a Lab’s, with a slight wave that makes him feel like a very expensive throw blanket with poor impulse control.
He has more character than anything Disney could produce.
Honestly, good luck to the Imagineers. They could spend twelve years, four billion dollars and assemble a team of the finest creative minds on Earth, and they still would not come up with the pout, the eyes, the lip, the coat and the deeply theatrical sense of betrayal currently contained inside this one dog.
Carhartt will likely do well with other dogs and is expected to make a full recovery, but his new family will need to continue following his activity restrictions until he is officially cleared.
After that, may God be with you.
Please come adopt Carhartt and get him out of my office so I can accomplish some actual work instead of repeatedly being caught sitting on the floor, holding his face in my hands and telling him that he is the most perfect, handsomest man in the entire universe.
Because he is.
And productivity around here has completely collapsed.
Please SHARE with all your Carhartt-loving friends.
Applications may be submitted under the title:
“I Feel I Might Be Worthy of Carhartt.” https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HORI/Dog
Please understand that this title is not a guarantee of worthiness.
All applicants will be reviewed by the Carhartt Council, which currently consists of Carhartt, his bottom lip and anyone in the office willing to advocate on his behalf.
Applicants should be prepared to provide:
• Three personal references
• Proof of lap availability
• A written statement explaining how they plan to apologize whenever they ask him to settle down
• Documentation showing they understand that his eyes are legally binding
• Evidence that they possess the emotional strength to survive being looked at as though they have personally ruined his life
• A detailed post-recovery plan for managing one compact bowling ball with feelings
Final approval will be granted only after Carhartt gazes deeply into your soul and determines whether you are emotionally, spiritually and financially prepared to tell him he is handsome approximately 400 times per day.
We wish all applicants the very best.
You will need it. 🤎🐾
