Thank you to the Republican Club of Washington County TX for inviting me to speak in Brenham this week. Charisse and I appreciated the warm welcome!

We had a great discussion about water, what we accomplished during the 89th Legislature and the work ahead as we prepare for the 90th.

It was also great seeing fellow House member Trey Wharton and his wife, JoLynne. Thanks for a great evening in Washington County!

Water is one of the most important resources we have, and protecting it will always be a priority for me.

Today’s Lower Brazos River Coalition meeting was another important conversation about the future of our water supply, responsible growth, and the demands being placed on our infrastructure as Texas continues to grow.

As a member of the House Natural Resources Committee, I take these issues seriously. We have to plan ahead, ask the right questions, and make sure the decisions we make today protect the water needs of our communities for generations to come.

Growth is coming. My focus is making sure our water supply is ready for it.

For more than twenty years, I sold insurance to families up and down the Texas coast, so I know exactly what it feels like to open the mail and find your windstorm premium has gone up again. This week, I'm glad to share news that means it won't be going up this year.

The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) is holding its rates flat for 2027, no increase for the Brazoria County families and small businesses who count on it for windstorm and hail coverage. And for the first time in more than a decade, TWIA is on genuinely solid financial footing: an actuarial review found its rates are now more than adequate heading into storm season.

That turnaround is a direct result of the work we did last session to fix a windstorm system that had been broken for far too long. By restructuring how TWIA funds itself, we stopped it from passing runaway reinsurance costs straight down to you, and holding the line on rates is the payoff.

I ran for this office because I'd watched too many hardworking families along our coast get squeezed by rising premiums, and fixing it has been personal from day one. This is real progress, but I'm not finished. I'll keep working to make windstorm coverage affordable, dependable, and fair for every family from Pearland to Freeport.

So thankful for the West Pearland Republican Women and the incredible support they continue to give to our Republican candidates here in Brazoria County.

These women don’t just talk about supporting good candidates, they show up, get involved, and put in the work to help them succeed. That kind of dedication makes a real difference, and we truly couldn’t do it without them.

Grateful to have such a strong group of women who believe in our candidates, our community, and the future of Brazoria County. Thank you for always being in our corner!

Apparently, even a coffee run can turn into office hours.

Stopped by Gaby’s Pastries & Coffee in Alvin this morning and ended up visiting with a constituent who wanted to meet their State Representative and have a conversation.

And that’s just fine with me. There’s really no “off the clock” when you have the privilege of representing your community.
