Jeff Barone - Guitarist
That was a quick Five years…..September 2021.
We’re playing George Coleman’s “Amsterdam After Dark”. We did this in a studio up in Beacon, N.Y. It was streamed live I believe….The studio did a great job with the audio and video.
Side-story: Alvester’s car broke down on his way to the date. As we were setting up Ray left to go get Alvester where he was broken down by the Bear Mountain Bridge. After we finished Ray brought Alvester back to his car to call AAA. If I remember correctly AAA didn’t get to Alvester until after 6:00am!! The recording wasn’t late…I believe we’re finished around 8:30/9:00pm-ish. Alvester is a total pro from start to finish.

What an amazing weekend! Started out in Brooklyn with Carl Fischer’s Organic Groove Band then to the Scranton Jazz Fest where we played with Carl’s group(plus Troy Roberts, sax; and then Doug Beavers playing a tune with us) Saturday Night(the we had some of the Dirty Dozen Jazz members sitting in…).
Then to top it off I played with the jazz fest big band which featured the legendary Ron Carter. We played charts from his big band record. Definitely a memorable couple of days. That’s to the great Marko Marcinko for making all of this happen…
Playing a concert with the great Clifford Carter in Utica, N.Y. March 2026. We’re soloing over Clifford’s arrangement of Stevie Wonder’s song “Creepin’”.
