Not sure if your tires have enough tread? One way to check is to place an upside-down penny into the tread groove with Abraham Lincoln’s head facing down. If you can see the top of his entire head, your tread is 2/32 of an inch or less, meaning you need new tires immediately.

A car's air filter is something that can be easily overlooked, but should never be ignored. A dirty air filter can decrease engine power, cause engine misfires, produce weird engine noises, and reduce fuel efficiency. Keep your car running smoothly by replacing the air filter and keeping your engine free from pollutants.

Overinflated tires do not equal better performance! Overinflated tires can lead to reduced traction, uneven tire wear that can shorten the lifespan of your tires, and a greater risk for blowouts. Keep your tires properly inflated by reviewing your car's recommended PSI.

Summer heat can be just as tough to your car battery! High temperatures can speed up internal chemical reactions, evaporate essential battery fluids, and can shorten battery life.

Rain is in the forecast! If you are out on the roads, prevent hydroplaning by practicing safe driving.

Hydroplaning happens when your tires lose contact with the road due to water buildup, causing you to lose steering and control. Avoid hydroplaning from happening by slowing down, checking your tires for inflation and tread, and braking gently.

If you do happen to hydroplane, remember to ease off the gas, steer straight, and do not slam the brakes.

Have you noticed brake fluid leaking out of your car? Are you experiencing a soft pedal and needing more distance to brake safely? Some common reasons for a brake fluid leak could be a damaged line, a worn master cylinder, or a leaking brake caliper. Regardless of the cause, ignoring your brakes should never be the answer. Bring your vehicle into Ozzy's Auto Clinic and let our team help keep you and your passengers safe on the road.

Tire dry rot is the deterioration of rubber, which causes brittleness and cracking. Common signs of dry rot include small cracks in the sidewall or between the tread blocks, as well as a faded, gray, or chalky appearance instead of deep black rubber. A tire with dry rot can lead to a loosened grip on the road, increasing the risk of hydroplaning, sudden flats, or blowouts. If you see visible cracks or signs of weathering, have your tire replaced immediately.

Has your oil pressure light turned on? If this warning light appears on your dashboard, it could be due to low oil levels, a failing pump, or a blocked oil pump. If the light stays on after adding oil, please make sure to have your car looked at immediately to prevent severe engine damage from happening.

Is your car sounding louder than usual? If so, your muffler might be trying to tell you something! A noisy muffler can be a sign of rust or corrosion, exhaust leaks, or loose/damaged parts. Loud mufflers aren’t just annoying, but could also lead to costly repairs if ignored. Stop in and let our team quiet things down the right way!
