The media is full of S**T.

I said it.

If you spend enough time watching the news or scrolling social media, you’d think we absolutely hate each other. Left vs. right. Rich vs. poor. City vs. country. One side against the other, all day, every day.

Because division gets clicks. Anger gets attention. Fear keeps people watching.

But today, I watched something different.

I watched a small town come together to help their neighbors. HUNDREDS of folks!!

Nobody stopped to ask who they voted for. Nobody cared what church they went to, or if they went to one at all. Nobody asked what somebody believed before lending a hand.

They just saw people who needed help.

And they helped.

People showed up. They gave their time. They worked alongside each other. They checked on neighbors. They did what communities have always done when somebody was hurting.

And it reminded me that maybe we aren’t nearly as divided as we’re constantly being told we are. I had a few moments where I was pretty emotional just watching it all.

Sure, we disagree. Sometimes about some pretty important things. But disagreement doesn’t have to mean hatred.

Turn off the TV. Put down the phone. Walk outside and actually talk to the people around you.

You’ll find a lot more good than they want you to believe exists.

Today I saw it with my own eyes.

And I’ll believe my neighbors before I believe a headline.
