Saturday, 01 August 3 2026 - Another great morning at the field! Sure, everything was wet enough to make the frogs feel right at home, but that didn't stop us. Turbines screamed, gassers growled, and electrics quietly did what electrics do best. The wind decided to join the fun, but thankfully the rain must've hit the snooze button.

I spent part of the morning testing Throttle-Based Gains on my Freewing F-22A Raptor (01) 90mm V2, then had some fun putting the FMS Pilatus PC-21 1.1m through its paces.

The rest of the morning was spent behind the camera, catching Pilot Mark's successful maiden flight with his newest biplane, Pilot Charlie's EA turbine, and plenty of flights from other club members.

Just goes to show... sometimes the best flying days are the ones the weather app gets completely wrong! 😄

Another quiet morning at the field. I guess most everyone expected the rain because only a few of us showed up to fly, including Pilot Carson and Ron. At only 10 years old, Carson is becoming quite the pilot... but don't tell him that. 😄

With the light turnout, it was the perfect opportunity to continue testing Throttle-Based Gains and break in some new HCL SMC batteries. While I still primarily fly with Spektrum Smart batteries, I have to admit I'm impressed with the performance and exceptionally low internal resistance of the HCL SMC packs.

Unfortunately, I'm still being challenged by landings with the Freewing F-14B Tomcat Dual 64mm. I'll get it figured out—it just needs more stick time.

On the positive side, the Freewing F-22A Raptor (03) performed flawlessly with Throttle-Based Gains, so the next aircraft getting the upgrade will be the A-10C Warthog.

Even with the threat of rain, it turned out to be another productive morning of testing, learning, and flying.
