ADAM COX URQUHART 09/29/2026

Adam Cox Urquhart, 48, of Middle Georgia, passed away at home, over the weekend of September 20, 2026.

Adam was born on March 5th, 1978 in Long Beach, California and spent his life as a philosopher of sorts. He was well known for being able to sit with you and provide relevant advice to life’s troubles- even in the midst of his own. He was the kind of person you could sit with on a porch and talk about absolutely nothing, or everything that ever mattered, and he would treat it with the same import.

Adam is survived by his cherished only son, Alexander Christian Nathaniel Urquhart. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Cynthia Cox Loyd, his stepfather Bill Loyd, and his biological father, Alexander Inglis Urquhart.

Adam did not want a funeral service, reception, or any other form of mourning when he passed on to the next big adventure. We have chosen to honor these wishes, and his son would like everyone who knew him to know, he tried his best, and that was enough. It’s enough for any person to get through life on exactly that: doing what you can, where you can, for who you can. To that end, if you find yourself wondering how you can honor a man who wanted no weeping, reach out to someone in your own life that you’ve been meaning to, and life has gotten away from you. He valued the human connection above all other things this world offered him.

Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at https://www.watsonhunt.com....

🌟TRIBUTE TUESDAY | CHIEF LEE PARKER🌟

Today, for Tribute Tuesday, we are recognizing a man who has dedicated his career to serving and protecting others: Perry Fire Chief Lee Parker.

Chief Parker has served as Perry’s Fire Chief since October 2016, bringing with him years of experience in the fire service, including his time with the Forsyth County Fire Department and the Georgia Fire Academy. Before coming to Perry, he also served as a firefighter with the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserve.

Since becoming Perry’s Fire Chief, Chief Parker has helped guide the department through continued growth, including new fire apparatus, expanded rescue capabilities and improvements to the department’s command structure.

One of the department’s notable accomplishments came in 2021, when Perry Fire & Emergency Services improved its Insurance Services Office rating from Class 4/4x to Class 3/3x. At the time, the City of Perry reported that only 9.3% of fire departments nationwide had a Class 3 designation. Chief Parker recognized that accomplishment as a reflection of the hard work of the entire Perry Fire Department.

But there is more to Chief Parker than the title of Fire Chief.

His commitment to serving others extends beyond the fire station. He has been involved in the Perry Rotary Club, including leadership within the organization, and he continues to be involved in the Perry community. He is also a member of First Baptist Church of Perry.

When you look at Chief Parker’s career, one thing is clear: service has been a consistent part of his life. Whether answering an emergency call, leading the men and women of Perry Fire & Emergency Services, preparing his department to better serve our community or giving his time to others, he continues to answer that call.

Chief Parker, thank you for your years of service, your leadership and your commitment to Perry and the people who call our community home. 🚒💛

Born in Athens, GA, on April 24, 1944, Anne and her parents, Julia and John Wade, returned to Marshallville, her father’s ancestral home, when she was a young child. Her parents exposed Anne to a wonderful life, full of exciting characters, loving relatives, brilliant and nutty professors, storytelling, horticulture, poetry and prose. 🌟 Tribute Tuesday: Honoring Kenny Bearden 🌟

Some people serve their community quietly, simply because they care. Kenny Bearden is one of those people.

For the past four years, Kenny has been part of the Watson-Hunt Funeral Home family, managing Perry Memorial Gardens alongside Lisa Hays. He takes tremendous pride in caring for the cemetery as if it were his own. From mowing and digging to maintaining the grounds, Kenny puts his heart into the work. Even outside of his regular work hours, you’ll often find him at the cemetery in the evenings or on some weekends, making sure everything is cared for.

But Kenny’s impact goes beyond the work itself. He mentors the young men who work alongside him, teaching them the value of hard work, responsibility and taking pride in what they do.

A Macon County native, Air Force veteran, longtime automotive professional and current Robins Air Force Base Equipment Specialist, Kenny has spent his life serving, working and taking care of others. He and his wife of 25 years, Alison, raised their sons, Ethan and Brady, in Henderson before making Perry their home.

A member of First Baptist Church Perry, a proud baseball dad for more than 15 years, and truly a jack of all trades and master of many, Kenny is the kind of person who leaves things better than he found them.

Today, we’re proud to recognize Kenny Bearden for the heart he puts into Perry Memorial Gardens, the young men he mentors, and the community he calls home. 💛

💙 The List He Gave Her. The Life He Lived.

During Draper Watson’s life celebration, his daughter, Christen Schmidt, shared something incredibly special about her dad.
Years ago, Draper gave Christen a list of “Do Rights” to live by. He titled it:
“Do Rights for New York from Big D to CD.”
Among his reminders were:
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
“Learn as much as you can.”
“Be energetic.”
“Volunteer for extra work.”
“When you get ‘down,’ dust yourself off and get ‘up.’”
“You alone control your attitude.”
And finally, “Life is an adventure. Love It and Live It.”
It wasn’t simply a list of things Draper wanted his daughter to remember. It was a reflection of the values he lived by: treating others well, working hard, continuing to learn, keeping the right attitude, loving deeply, and making the most of life.
The most meaningful part is that Draper didn’t just write those “Do Rights.”
He lived them.
And now, through Christen, his family, and the many lives he touched, those lessons will continue on. ❤️
