De corazón agradezco a todas las personas que se hicieron presente el día de ayer en nuestra CENA DE AGRADECIMIENTO para los voluntarios que colaboraron en el Festival de Independencia y en la Fiesta Night.
Fue una oportunidad para estrechar lazos de amistad y juntos poder reírnos un poco.
Al final de la cena asta la ‘víbora de la mar se bailó’ con aquellos que aún se quedaron.

From the bottom of my heart I thank everyone that came yesterday to our Appreciation Dinner for the volunteers that helped with the Parish Festival.
It was an opportunity to strengthen friendships and share a few laughs.
At the end we even dance a little with those that stayed a little longer.

Me alegra compartirles que estamos organizando el “Retiro Emaus” para las Damas y Caballeros de nuestra parroquia.

El RETIRO EMAUS PARA LAS DAMAS DE NUESTRA PARROQUIA será el 10 y 11 de octubre y el RETIRO EMAUS PARA LOS CABALLEROS DE NUESTRA PARROQUIA será el 17 y 18 de octubre.

El retiro será impartido aquí en las instalaciones de Inmaculada Concepción y parte del retiro requiere que pasen la noche aquí. Es decir no podrán ir a su casa, por lo que necesitarán traer una colchoneta (Sleeping Bag).

Para poder participar de este retiro es necesario inscribirse.

Nuestra meta es llegar a tener 100 personas en cada retiro. 100 personas que quieran cambiar su vida.

NO HAY UNA DONACIÓN ESTABLECIDA para vivir este retiro, solo se aceptan donaciones voluntarias.

Puedo asegurarles que este será un retiro que puede cambiar su vida.

I am pleased to share with everyone that our parish is organizing the "Emmaus Retreat" for the ladies and gentlemen of our parish.

The Emmaus Retreat for the Women of our parish will take place on October 10th and 11th and the Emmaus Retreat for Men will be held on October 17th and 18th.

The retreat will be held here at the facilities of Immaculate Conception.
This retreat requires staying overnight on-site; this means participants cannot go home and will need to bring a sleeping bag.

Registration is required to participate in this retreat.
There is no set fee to attend; only voluntary donations are accepted.

Both Retreats will be in Spanish.

This is a retreat that can change your heart.

Perhaps many of you already know that today, Thursday, September 24th, Archbishop Fulton Sheen will be BEATIFIED in a ceremony in St. Louis, Missouri at 2:00 p.m. Central Time.

For many years, his remains rested at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, where he carried out part of his ministry. They are now in Peoria, Illinois, where he grew up.

Long before social media existed, Fulton Sheen was already a true “influencer,” thanks to the extraordinary success of his television program Life Is Worth Living.

Fulton Sheen became Bishop of Rochester and was later given the personal title of Archbishop. His life was marked by a tireless commitment to evangelization. He knew how to make use of what was then a relatively new medium—television—to proclaim the Word of God, while also using virtually every other means of communication available to him.

He was also a man of extraordinary intellectual formation. At times, Sheen even experienced difficulties within the Church because of people who were jealous of his success. Nevertheless, he maintained his good humor and continued his ministry with enthusiasm and apostolic zeal.

Fulton Sheen was born on May 8, 1895, in El Paso, Illinois.

He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Peoria, Illinois, on September 20, 1919.

He earned a doctorate in philosophy from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium and later taught philosophy and theology for more than two decades at The Catholic University of America.

In 1930, he began his radio program The Catholic Hour, which eventually reached millions of listeners each week.

In 1951, he began his television ministry, which captivated an audience of more than 30 million viewers. In 1953, he received an Emmy Award.

In 1951, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of New York. In 1966, he became Bishop of Rochester, where he served until 1969.

He died on December 9, 1979.

Quizá muchos de ustedes saben que hoy, Jueves 24 de Septiembre el arzobispo Fulton Sheen será beatificado en una ceremonia en St. Louis, Missouri a las 2:00 pm [tiempo del centro]

Sus restos permanecieron durante muchos años en la Catedral de San Patricio de Nueva York, donde desarrolló parte de su ministerio, pero ahora se encuentran en Peoria, Illinois, donde creció.

Antes de las redes sociales Fulton Sheen era ya un verdadero "influencer" gracias al éxito de su programa de televisión Life Is Worth Living (“Vale la pena vivir”).

Fulton Sheen llegó a ser obispo de Rochester y posteriormente arzobispo. Su vida estuvo marcada por una constante labor de evangelización. Supo aprovechar un medio relativamente nuevo en aquel tiempo, la televisión, para anunciar la Palabra de Dios, además de utilizar prácticamente todos los demás medios de comunicación disponibles.

Durante algún tiempo, Sheen sufrió incluso dentro de la Iglesia debido a personas que sentían celos de su éxito. Sin embargo, conservó su buen humor y continuó desarrollando su ministerio con entusiasmo y celo apostólico.

Nació el 8 de Mayo de 1895, en El Paso, Illinois

Se ordenó sacerdote el 20 de Septiembre de 1919 en la Diócesis de Peoria,IL.

Estudió un doctorado en Filosofia Ordained a priest en Catholic University of Louvain de Bélgica, y enseñó Filosofía y Teología por dos décadas en Catholic University of America

En 1930 comenzó su programa de radio La Hora Católica que llegó a tener 4 millones de radioescucha cada semana.

En 1951 comenzó su programa de televisión que cautivó a mas de 30 millones de televidentes y ganando un premio Emmy en 1953.

En 1951 fue nombrado Obispo Auxiliar de New York. En 1966 se convirtió en el Obispo de Rochester hasta 1969.

Murió el 9 de Diciembre de 1979.

Do you wonder what is required to become a special minister of the Eucharist?

A special minister of the Eucharist primarily and sincerely believes in Christ’s Eucharistic presence and deeply appreciates the divine gift shared in ministry.

The Eucharist is at once a sacrifice, thanksgiving, praise, nourishment, healing, giving and receiving. It capsulates our faith in Jesus’ saving acts through his life, death and resurrection.

A special minister of the Eucharist, in giving Christ to the communicant, witnesses to Christ’s love.

LECTORS

Do you ever wish you could lector at Mass?
Do you wonder what it takes to be a lector?
Do you yearn to participate more actively in the liturgy?
As you listen to the readings do you feel the call to liturgical ministry to proclaim the Word of God?
To proclaim Scripture in the worshiping community as a lector is a sacred trust. As the voice of the Lord, the lector needs to be an ardent lover of Sacred Scripture.

PROCLAMADORES

If the devil wants you anywhere, it is far away from the confessional...

Today, Wednesday, September 23rd we celebrate the Feast day of St. Padre Pio.

Padre Pio understood how much was happening every time a sinner walked through that door. For hours, he would sit and hear confessions. People came carrying years of sin, shame, fear, and regret. And through the Sacrament of Confession, they could walk away forgiven and restored to friendship with God.

One story told about Padre Pio says Satan threatened him: “If you don’t leave that confessional, I’ll kill you.”

Padre Pio replied, “Do your worst.”

And he stayed.

That is the kind of courage that comes from knowing who is really in control.
Padre Pio was not stronger than the devil by himself. He trusted Jesus.

Holy Scripture says, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

The enemy can tempt you. He can accuse you. He can make you afraid. But God’s grace is stronger.

And maybe that is one reason confession can feel so hard to get back to. There is always another excuse:
→ “I’ll go next week.”
→ “My sins aren’t that serious.”
→ “I’m embarrassed.”
→ “God already knows I’m sorry.”

But Jesus gave His Church this sacrament for a reason. Especially after mortal sin, we should not run away from confession. We should run toward it.

Because the confessional is not a place where God waits to shame you. It is a place where Christ is waiting to forgive you.

Be honest: what is the NUMBER 1 excuse people have that keeps them from going to confession?

Si el diablo quiere que estés en algún lugar, es lejos del confesionario...

Hoy Miércoles 23 de septiembre celebramos la Fiesta Memorial de San Padre Pío

El Padre Pío comprendía todo lo que sucedía cada vez que un pecador cruzaba esa puerta. Pasaba horas sentado escuchando confesiones. La gente llegaba cargando años de pecado, vergüenza, miedo y remordimiento. Y, a través del sacramento de la confesión, salían perdonados y restaurados en su amistad con Dios.

Una historia sobre el Padre Pío cuenta que Satanás lo amenazó: «Si no sales de ese confesionario, te mataré».

El Padre Pío respondió: «Haz lo peor que puedas».

Y se quedó.

Ese es el tipo de valentía que nace de saber quién tiene realmente el control. Por sí mismo, el Padre Pío no era más fuerte que el diablo; él confiaba en Jesús.

Las Escrituras dicen: «Resistid al diablo y huirá de vosotros» (Santiago 4, 7).

El enemigo puede tentarte. Puede acusarte. Puede infundirte miedo. Pero la gracia de Dios es más fuerte.

Y tal vez esa sea una de las razones por las que a veces cuesta tanto volver a confesarse. Siempre surge otra excusa:
→ «Iré la próxima semana».
→ «Mis pecados no son tan graves».
→ «Me da vergüenza».
→ «Dios ya sabe que estoy arrepentido».

Pero Jesús dio este sacramento a su Iglesia por una razón. Especialmente después de un pecado mortal, no debemos huir de la confesión; debemos correr hacia ella.

Porque el confesionario no es un lugar donde Dios espera para avergonzarte. Es un lugar donde Cristo espera para perdonarte.

Sé sincero: ¿cuál es la excusa número uno que impide a la gente ir a confesarse?
