Mending Hope Equine Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit in Fairmount City, PA dedicated to equine rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming, and mustang gentling.

Mending Hope Equine Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit in Fairmount City, Pennsylvania. We are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming mustangs and domestic horses. We rely on the support of the community to continue to rescue and care for equines. Intake fees can be high and vary depending on the horse. The majority of the equine that we take in are older and not broke, untouched or ill. We typically do not buy from kill pens or kill buyers; this only fuels the industry. We believe in going to the auctions, taking in the unwanted or in need before they end up in the slaughter pipeline. We do, however, accept equines that have been bailed with no place to go. We also offer a Horses and Heroes program for Veterans through a partnership with Patriot Horsemanship and Wendy Dixon, certified animal assisted therapy professional. We try to educate on equine abuse and mustangs and host equine first aid classes as well. Founder Tammy has a mental health background and is a Family Nurse Practitioner and also uses the horses for pet therapy. We appreciate volunteers. If you’d like to get involved, there are many ways to volunteer including working directly with the horses, cleaning equipment, hosting fundraisers, grounds work, professional services, and more. We also offer community service hours. We are solely funded by donations. In addition to monetary donations, we also accept items for the rescues, high-quality horse hay, grain, equipment, tack, and other items or services that can be auctioned off at our fundraisers.

🩺 Vet Care Adds Up

Spartacus, Serenity, Duchess, Winslie, and Ava all had their vaccines the other week. Keeping up with routine veterinary care is an important part of keeping everyone healthy. 🐴💙

The vet also felt that Serenity did not need any additional blood work or testing at this time, so we did not move forward with those tests.

Would you consider sending $5 today to help with our vet expenses? Every $5 adds up and helps us continue providing the care our horses need. ❤️

Winslie got some time on her own to run out in the arena! 🐴💨 She had fun stretching her legs and checking out all the space.

Don’t forget to like and share our posts to help more people follow along with Winslie and the other horses at Mending Hope Equine Rescue! 🐴

Spartacus enjoyed some time running in the arena! 🐴💨 As a hinny, he definitely has his own unique way of moving, and he had fun stretching his legs and checking out the arena.

Don’t forget, Spartacus is up for adoption! ❤️ Check out his bio on our website and, if you think he could be the right fit for you, fill out an adoption application.

Thor, Serenity's c**t (from ROAR, a failed rescue in Texas) found his forever home in August 2026.

Aria is a 2020 BLM Mustang mare standing approximately 13.1 hands tall. She came to Mending Hope Equine Rescue from ROAR, a failed rescue in Texas. When Aria arrived, she was fearful and pregnant. She later gave birth to her filly, Dove, here at the rescue.

Since coming to Mending Hope, Aria has made great progress. She is now halter broke. She loves attention and enjoys being around people.

Aria may have had some initial training under saddle before coming to us, but we do not have enough information about her previous training to confirm her experience.

Aria is looking for a forever home where her adopter can continue building on the progress she has made and give her the time and consistency she needs to thrive.

Winslie is a 2026 filly born to Duchess, a BLM Mustang mare who was rescued from the New Holland auction. We partnered with Pipeline Pulls to save Duchess and Winslie from a kill buyer and give this mother-and-daughter pair a second chance.

Winslie is a sweet, curious filly who loves attention. She has been working on haltering and leading here at the rescue.

Winslie will be weaned in October 2026 and will then be available for adoption.

Ava, a 2023 Thoroughbred mare, came to us as an owner surrender with a previous back pastern injury. X-rays from August 2025 showed some mild arthritis, but no lameness was present. While she won’t be suited for a high-impact sports career, she’s perfect for trail rides or light dressage-style work. Ava stands a little over 15 hands tall.

Ava received professional training in April-May 2026 and is now green broke. She has been ridden in an arena and on trails.

Dove is a 2025 Mustang filly, born at our rescue on April 1 to Aria, a BLM Mustang from ROAR, a failed Texas rescue.

Dove is halter broke and loves attention. Dove would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a friendly, affectionate young Mustang.

🐴 Duchess is rolling, while Winslie is busy tasting the sand! 😂There are a lot of new things to try in the arena!
