Saturday nights at our house look a little different these days. 😂🎬🇮🇹

And apparently somebody else decided the crate was the hottest Saturday-night spot in Philly. 😂

It’s not exactly glamorous behind the scenes of Shifting 2 Sicily — laptops on the kitchen counter, glasses of w**e, dogs snoring, cats wandering through and the two of us watching the same clips approximately 147 times. 🤦🏼‍♀️

But every week, we sit here together and turn another little piece of this crazy adventure into a story we get to share with you.

And we really do love it. ❤️

One video at a time. One Sunday at a time. One step closer to Sicily. 🇮🇹

This is our Saturday night now… and honestly, we wouldn’t trade it. 🥰

Well… Sicily just got real. 😳🇮🇹

There’s a big difference between planning to move your life across an ocean and actually starting to let go of the life you’ve built here.

And this one? We’ve been avoiding it. 😂🚐❤️

Tomorrow we’re finally tackling the Chuckwagon — sorting through years of stuff, a whole lot of memories, and figuring out what stays, what goes… and whether we’ve already taken our last trip in her. 👀

Turns out moving to Sicily isn’t only about what we’re moving toward.

Sometimes it’s about what we have to leave behind. ❤️

Has your GPS ever confidently sent you somewhere you had absolutely NO business being? We need stories. 👇😂

Apparently, being unemployed and having absolutely no responsibilities is exhausting. 😂🐾

Chuckie and Lina have had a VERY long week of eating, napping, following us from room to room, and recovering from all the napping.

Lina, in particular, would like everyone to know that sleeping normally is for amateurs. Teeth out. Legs up. On top of Chuckie. On top of us. Whatever works. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Chuckie just looks like a man who has accepted that this is his life now.

Meanwhile, at the Shifting 2 Sicily Zoo… all is well. ❤️🐾

😂🇮🇹 Are we too old for this?

We certainly hope not, because at this point there’s no turning back. 🤣

Tomorrow we’re tackling Learning Italian After 50 with our friend Enrico — an Italian teacher who has some thoughts about what we’re doing right, what we should stop doing, and why maybe we need to quit trying so damn hard to be perfect. 😬

Which is especially convenient because we ALSO managed to forget to turn on the camera that had our microphones connected to it. 🎥🎤🤦🏼‍♀️

And by “we,” I mean not Julie. 😂

Imperfect Italian. Imperfect filming. Very real progress.

🐾 MEANWHILE, AT THE SHIFTING 2 SICILY ZOO… 😂

Time for a fur family update, where once again nobody in this house is normal.

Let’s begin with Chuckie, who earned himself a trip back to the Penn Vet ER after having what looked like seizures at home. 😳

Naturally, upon arrival, Chuckie made a miraculous recovery and began hamming it up like we had simply arranged a fun little outing for him to visit his friends.

$400 later: Everything looks good. Go home and monitor him.

Sir. 😑

Meanwhile, PopPop, our resident serial killer, made an appearance. 🔪🐱 Please do not be fooled by the crossed paws and distinguished gentleman pose. We know who he is.

Bella continues her deep and abiding love of electronics—particularly laptops that someone is ACTIVELY TRYING TO USE. 💻🐱 Apparently my work is now our work.

And then there’s Lina.

Lina does not have the phrase “personal space” in her vocabulary. If there is a human body available, she will be touching it. Preferably all of it. 😂

She also apparently lives in a home where napkins are not provided after meals, so please enjoy the frothy lower lip. 🤦🏼‍♀️

So, to recap this week at the Shifting 2 Sicily Zoo:

One fraudulent ER patient.
One serial killer.
One IT specialist.
And one 70-pound lap dog with questionable table manners.

All is well. Nothing to see here. 😂🐾❤️

🎥 After filming on Saturday, we took a few minutes to slow down, take a breath, and enjoy our city. Philly still gives us plenty of reasons to stop and smile. ❤️

And then there are the squirrels. I don’t know what it is about me, but they ALWAYS stop to size me up. Am I a snack source? A threat? Someone who owes them money? 🐿️😂

Apparently even a peaceful moment in Philly comes with a little attitude. 👀
