🇺🇸Tomorrow🇺🇸
251 years ago, Philadelphia went to bed on the eve of a decision that would change history forever.
The men gathered here couldn’t know what the future would hold. They couldn’t know the nation that would be built, the wars that would be fought, or the generations of Soldiers who would answer the call.
But they took the first step.
Tomorrow, we return to where it all began.
Join us as we celebrate the 251st Birthday of the United States Army, honor the Soldiers who came before us, recognize those serving today, and welcome those who will carry the mission forward.
History was made here.
Tomorrow, we celebrate it.

recognizing Philadelphia as the Birthplace of the United States Army
Did you know?
When the Continental Army was created in Philadelphia on June 14, 1775, there were only 10 companies of riflemen authorized to defend the colonies. No one could have imagined it would become the world’s greatest fighting force 251 years later.
History happened here.
Now we’re coming back to celebrate it.

🇺🇸5 Days Until Army 251🇺🇸
Before the Army Birthday Ceremony...
Before the Historical Marker Dedication...
Before the parade...
Start your day with history.
Join us at Independence Mall for the Stripes & Stars Welcome Ceremony featuring Flag Day observances, patriotic music, and appearances by Betsy Ross and George Washington interpreters.
Did you know?
The 13 stars on the Betsy Ross flag were arranged in a circle because no colony was meant to stand above another. The design symbolized unity among the original states as they fought for independence together.
Five days from now, we’ll gather in the same city where that history was made.

🇺🇸13 Days Until Army 251🇺🇸
Did you know?
One of the Army’s oldest birthday traditions is the ceremonial cake cutting.
The first piece of cake is traditionally passed from the oldest Soldier present to the youngest Soldier, symbolizing the passing of knowledge, experience, and traditions from one generation to the next.
For 251 years, Soldiers have carried that legacy forward.
Join us on June 14 as we celebrate the Army’s birthday in the city where it all began.

14 days until Army 251. 🇺🇸
Wild Army fact:
The U.S. Army is actually OLDER than the United States itself.
The Army was established on June 14, 1775.
The Declaration of Independence wasn’t signed until July 4, 1776.
America had an Army before it was officially America.
251 years later, we’re celebrating where it all began: Philadelphia.
