What an awesome night we had on Thursday! Can’t believe we now have 20 Ambient Open Mics behind us! It’s such a joy to put this event on every month and hear incredible performances from both the experienced and first timers, and both bringing phenomenal and moving art. Thanks again to Kennnessy for visuals all evening and RE/MAX ONE South Philly for letting us use their space! Stay tuned for next months announcement!
Thanks again to Evil Genius Beer for generously offering their space for the Ambient Open Mic last month. I’m always blown away by how incredible the musicians that choose to share their gifts with us are, and I’m excited to make space to do it again this Thursday in South Philly!

Join us July 30th at Icebox Project Space for a triple-header bound to challenge all your materialist inclinations. In collaboration with the mighty Fire Museum Presents, we have Lesley Mok, Koof Ibi, and LN Celestine bestowing us with the kind of performances bound to make you believe in forces beyond the physical realm.
Percussionist and sound artist Lesley Mok’s upcoming release Transient is a vertiginous garden of crystalline forms that brings to mind the venerated electronic explorations of Sun Ra as much as the kinetic scatter-beats of Squarepusher. I tried re-watching Scavengers Reign on mute with Transient playing in the background and it worked perfectly.
Koof Ibi will grace us with one of his four-dimensional sound-sculpting sessions bound to break all barriers between your ears and visual cortex. Guaranteed synaesthesia for the entire family. Leave your DMT at home.
Opening set by local gem LN Celestine will offer a phytomorphic intertwining of voice and bowed strings, conjuring pulsing vines of sound that crawl across the smoking ruins of a post-capitalist wasteland.

We were bummed we had to end our open mic early last month, but don’t worry, we’re coming right back at it! This time we will be up in Fishtown at Evil Genius Beer, who have graciously offered to host us! So come on through, enjoy some beers, a meal, some chill ambient music, and a friendly community.
If this is your first time hearing about the Ambient Open Mic, it’s an event we put on to create a low pressure environment for ambient and electronic musicians to play live and share their art with the community. You don’t need expensive gear to play! It is a welcoming space for everyone, whether it’s your first time playing out or you’re a veteran, or you just want to enjoy the live music. Swipe to see some of our past performances!
If you are interested in playing the open mic, leave a comment or send a DM. Spots fill up quick! All instruments are welcome, set times are 10-15 minutes. Bring your friends even if you’re not going to play!
Past performances:
1) Emily Kate
2) Baleigh Rooze
3) Addison Rider
4) Beni Rose (yours truly!)
