Forbidden Drive's Premiere Low Brass Quartet Forbidden Brass is a Philadelphia-based low brass ensemble.

While they specialize in jazzy, toe-tapping favorites, their musical versatility allows them to happily adapt to any situation. In search of a fresh brass ensemble experience, in fall of 2021 Josy Conklin invited like-minded friends Keith Genzlinger, Dan McGahey, and Tom Steele to meet in centrally-located Wissahickon Valley Park in a pavilion on Forbidden Drive, which ultimately led to their name. Their mission has evolved to bring a smile to people's faces, to help their audiences fall in love with brass, and most importantly to have a good time. This isn't your grandmother's brass quartet, but we promise your grandmother will love them.

South Wayne Porchfest was a good porchfest! Good hosts, good crowd (REALLY good - people NEVER applaud for just our announcements ๐Ÿ˜ฎ), and good folks who came out to hear us! It's probably annoying to hear our "thanks to..." aftermath, but really, we do appreciate you ๐Ÿ™ 'Til next year!

Is this the first time we've played Lincoln Woods so late in the season the sun-sensing lights have flipped on before we finished our set? ๐Ÿค” Audience was super, staying through the sunset and bugs to listen to us! ๐ŸŽถ You rock ๐Ÿชจ

Did you have a good Labor Day weekend? Are you still recovering?? We had a blast playing at the Chestnut Hill Farmers' Market this past Saturday! Bit of an unconventional setup this week--there were neighborhood cars parked in the "no parking" zone, so curbside vendor space was tight, so we just set up a tent smack dab in the middle of everything ๐Ÿ˜† We're grateful to the market for having us play, and to everyone who stopped to listen to us!

Our next public performance is in a couple weeks, Saturday 9/19 at South Wayne Porchfest ! We'll put out a reminder closer to the date, but mark your calendars now to come hear some great live music 4:00-4:45pm at 222 Windermere Ave in Wayne PA!

This is too good not to share immediately in its own post ๐Ÿคฉ The great Dana McGahey sketched us while we played at Chestnut Hill Farmers' Market this morning! (With "Apologies to Tom")

Regular photos to come later, sometime after we finish processing what a good time we just had ๐Ÿ˜Š

After a rained-out concert last week โ›ˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ข we're looking forward to returning to Chestnut Hill Farmers' Market THIS COMING SATURDAY, September 5, 9-11am! Labor Day weekend! Corner of Mermaid Ln and Germantown Ave in Philly! SO FAR the weather is looking like it'll cooperate, but of course if we SAY anything overtly positive, it's GUARANTEED to rain, so we'll just keep our mouths shut and our fingers crossed and WE WILL SEE YOU THERE!
