A great weekend at ! Members of the Penn Plastic Surgery team had the opportunity to share their work, connect with colleagues, and contribute throughout this year’s meeting.

Last Thursday’s Grand Rounds highlighted the breadth of research across Penn Plastic Surgery.

Dr. John Fischer, Director of the Clinical Research Program, shared the growth and productivity of clinical research within the division. The session also introduced Dr. Alex Lambi, Director of Translational Research, and his lab’s work in fibrosis, while resident Dr. Alan Makhoul presented clinical research from his time training at Penn.

The morning also featured Dr. Eric Liao, who shared perspectives from his career in academic translational research and the lessons that have shaped his work.

We’re excited to announce Dr. Samuel Lin, Editor-in-Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as a keynote speaker!

This year’s program features an impressive lineup of sessions exploring the latest innovations in injectables, skin care science, and surgical rejuvenation. Dr. Lin will be presenting on innovation in face lifting, sharing his perspective on evolving techniques and the future of facial rejuvenation.

Last Thursday’s Grand Rounds featured Chief Resident Carrie Morales presenting on the Center for Surgical Health and its mission to advance surgical equity and access to care.

As a co-founder and leader of the Center, we are incredibly proud of Dr. Morales and the amazing work she continues to lead!

Penn Plastic Surgery had a strong showing at this year’s American Hernia Society Meeting in Denver, Colorado 🏔️
Dr. Fischer moderated the session Patient-Reported Outcomes and Quality of Life in Hernia Repair and presented on the development and validation of the Abdominal Hernia-Q. Former research fellow, Maggie Hornick also presented Listening Louder: Using Patient-Reported Outcomes to Guide Care, highlighting the important role of patient perspectives in hernia treatment and recovery. Meetings like the American Hernia Society provide valuable opportunities to collaborate across specialties, share new research, and advance the care of patients with abdominal wall hernias.

We had the pleasure of hearing from Dr. Cassandra Ligh during this week’s Grand Rounds.

From the pioneers who shaped the field to the innovations that continue to advance it, Dr. Ligh provided a thoughtful overview and practical framework for approaching ear reconstruction. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us!
