NTEU Chapter 71
Contact information, map and directions, contact form, opening hours, services, ratings, photos, videos and announcements from NTEU Chapter 71, Nonprofit Organization, PO Box 42264, Philadelphia, PA.
Our mission: To organize the employees of the Philadelphia IRS Campus to work together to ensure that each and every employee is treated with dignity and respect.
Because there's more going on in your life than just work and "What is the union up to?", we want to periodically post things which can possibly better yourself and your families.
(Oh, hey, look! Work-life balance! Remember that?)
So to start, with school about to start and a while lot of y'all having kids looking at getting into college in the next few years, here is some absolutely EXCELLENT advice from Chris Newman, a farmer, author, and entrepreneur.

Something you may not have seen:
The in-house newspaper for the Philadelphia Service Center has local Accounts Management's employee appreciation event, held a couple months back as its front-page story.
They took advanced leave away from you.
They took telework away from you.
They took AWS away from you.
They made it impossible to file grievances on your yearly performance evaluation when it's not accurate.
They fired or forced out a lot of your coworkers and left you doing more with less.
They deliberately understaffed the phone lines and made YOU take the brunt of the taxpayers' anger.
They made it easier to fire you, and made it very clear that you are not considered valuable enough to be allowed the due process upon which this country, to which you have given your work life in service, is based.
.. But hey, they clapped for you, that one day, and gave some of you soft pretzels!
To paraphrase the enslaved general Maximus in the movie GLADIATOR, "Are you not appreciated?"
Well, there isn't really that much new news this week--which on the one hand is good; news coming in on Friday afternoons this year has typically not been good news.
On the other hand, another week has gone by without the news we WANT to hear; that being in our court case against the exclusion of the union.
We know we've going to prevail in this case--but we also know how painful it is, waiting for your rights to be restored.
(If anything, we're waiting even more hungrily; we have a whole shopping list of things the Agency is going to have to restore and/or fix when we're again under a good contract.
[And trust and believe: We WILL be "going shopping" when that day comes.])
UPDATE: We forgot--there WAS some new news we will be touching upon in a post later tonight.
Just a quick video this time, talking about the impact of the latest anti-FriYay email sent out just before a weekend, once again unlawfully taking away something ELSE employees need.
(And rest assured, we will be filing national grievances on this, and on AWS.)

Telework arbitration and more! Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
Stay tuned for a video late tonight, explaining the situation with the telework arbitration and more!

Never let them tell you that unions aren't patriotic.
