The rain didn't dampen our spirits as we welcomed our community in to give thanks for our animal companions. So many new faces with both two and four feet. It was truly a blessed day!

Dear Members and Community Partners of Trinity Memorial Church,

The Vestry is pleased to announce that The Reverend Canon Kirk Berlenbach will become our Interim Rector on September 1, 2026.

We have been without a Rector, officially, since December 2025 and somewhat longer than that in practice. In this intervening period, we have been fortunate to have had several very capable supply priests who have provided so much more than just Sunday-morning consistency, most notably the Reverend Erin Severin Richardson who will be with us through August. This period has also been a time for the Vestry, the governing body of the church, to restore operational norms and think deeply about the objectives for a continued interim period under the spiritual leadership of an interim rector.

A parish’s relationship with an Interim Rector is intended to last from eighteen months to two years and lead to the successful search for a new settled Rector while at the same time maintaining ongoing operations of the church. The Vestry has sought to define and find leadership that will work collaboratively with us in church operations while providing the spiritual guidance to undergird the work needed to better understand our future as a parish and how our relationship with the next settled rector might support doing God’s work here on our corner of center city Philadelphia.

Father Kirk brings to us considerable experience as a Rector, as a Canon for Growth & Support in the Diocese and, most recently, as the Interim Rector for St. Luke & The Epiphany an experience that has led him to follow a calling to this kind of ministry of healing and discernment. We are lucky to be able to welcome him to Trinity Memorial and look forward to working with him to seek the next chapter of our life as a parish.

We want to thank all of you for your patience and continued faith in the power of this small community as a spiritual home and difference-maker in our neighborhood. We are grateful for all our members and partners. We hope that we will find ways to involve all of you as we explore with Father Kirk how to be faithful stewards of this place and of the long tradition that is Trinity Memorial Church.
