When EndDD founder Joel Feldman asked that question during a distracted driving presentation for the City of Waukegan Public Works Department, nearly every parent said no.

That opened the door to an important conversation about the example adults set behind the wheel and the role parents can play in shaping safer driving habits.

It was a great reminder that reducing distracted driving starts with the choices each of us makes behind the wheel.

We asked 3rd–4th graders what they notice when their parents drive.

Their answers might surprise you: texting, driving with knees, makeup, even video games behind the wheel.

Kids see more than we think — and what we model matters. Teens whose parents drive distracted are 3x more likely to drive distracted themselves.
