Caring for Friends
Caring for Friends provides food and friendship to seniors, vets, kids and families in Greater Philadelphia thanks to our volunteers and community partners.
Our food bank, homebound meals program and homeless outreach helps tens of thousands of people. Inflation is hurting everyone – especially those whose budgets are stretched already. Please help us share food and friendship with our neighbors in need by donating now! https://caringforfriends.org/donate/

Caring doesn’t have to be complicated, and it’s never too early to learn what it means to care for someone else. Sometimes the smallest act can make someone’s day a little brighter.
❤️ What does caring look like to you?
Tell us in the comments, then find one small way to put it into action this weekend.

Imagine living in the same home for decades. You know every room, every neighbor, every familiar turn in the road.
Then one day, you can’t drive anymore.
Trips to the grocery store and doctor’s appointments require someone else’s help.
The places you used to go and the people you used to see become harder to reach.
This is the reality for many people as they age. That’s why Caring for Friends is about more than delivering food. We offer familiar faces, meaningful conversations, and a little help so that our Seniors and Vets knows someone Cares.

Today, we recognize our older neighbors throughout Greater Philadelphia who have spent a lifetime caring for families, friends and their communities.
For Seniors, getting groceries, preparing meals or simply staying connected can become harder. That’s why Caring for Friends delivers food and friendship. With every meal we provide, we bring a visit as a reminder that someone cares.
“No one should be alone or hungry in a world of caring people.”

Imagine trying to live on just $400 a month.
After severe health issues left Joseph unable to work or easily afford groceries, that became his reality. For Joseph, Caring for Friends means knowing there will be nutritious meals each week and that someone will keep showing up.
One of those visits became a day he’ll never forget. Joseph, a lifelong Eagles fan, opened his door to former Philadelphia Eagle Javon Hargrave, who came to deliver food and spend time with him.
But what Joseph said afterward is what stays with us:
“It helps knowing that there are people out there who can help me. That feels good.”
When your health changes, your income is limited and getting out of the house becomes difficult, knowing someone cares can mean everything.
There are more people like Joseph who need someone to show up. Bring a meal. Bring friendship. Remind someone they’re not alone.

Two days left in Hunger Action Month. But hunger won't end when September does.
Tomorrow, another homebound senior will need a meal. Another family will need groceries. Another neighbor will need to know someone cares.
Please don't wait to make a difference.
Help us keep food and friendship moving throughout Greater Philadelphia.

September is almost over, but our work isn't.
Tomorrow, meals will still need to be prepared. Food will still need to be rescued. Boxes will still need to be packed. And homebound neighbors will still be waiting for a visit.
Hunger Action Month gives us a reason to speak louder about hunger, but caring for our neighbors is something we do every day.
Help us carry that action forward. Together, we can keep working toward a Greater Philadelphia where no one is hungry or alone.

Some people cook. Some pack boxes. Some drive. Some visit a homebound neighbor.
Some rescue food. Some donate. Some simply share a post so the right person sees it.
There isn't just one way to help fight hunger.
This Hunger Action Month, find yours.

We’re so grateful to Holy Child School at Rosemont’s 8th-grade leaders for giving their time to serve our neighbors! Thank you for being part of our mission to ensure no one goes hungry or feels alone. ❤️
For many of the homebound neighbors we serve, a delivery brings more than food.
It's a familiar face at the door. A conversation. Someone asking, "How are you doing?" and staying long enough to hear the answer. That's why food and friendship have always gone hand in hand at Caring for Friends.
This Hunger Action Month, we're thankful for every Volunteer Visitor who makes sure a neighbor knows someone cares.
Could you make room for one more friend in your life?
