Information sessions are the first step in the process of becoming a CASA volunteer. Join us to learn more about how our advocates are supporting children in the Philadelphia foster care system.

Every child deserves access to the health care they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

Vision care can be easy to overlook, especially for youth in foster care who may experience placement changes and disruptions in medical care. A missing pair of glasses or missed follow-up appointment can affect school, daily activities, and overall well-being.

CASA Philadelphia volunteers advocate for the whole child. By asking about vision screenings, helping ensure glasses travel with a child, and raising unmet health needs with the care team and court, volunteers can help prevent important needs from falling through the cracks.

CASA Philadelphia is proud to celebrate 15 young people who graduated from high school this year.

For youth in foster care, graduation can reflect years of perseverance through school changes, disrupted routines, and other significant challenges. Behind many of these milestones is the steady encouragement of a CASA volunteer advocate.

On average, our graduates were supported by a CASA advocate for five years. Volunteers help youth navigate school needs, celebrate achievements, and stay connected through life’s transitions.

Today is Court Appointed Special Advocates Day in Pennsylvania, designated by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives through House Resolution 480.

"CASA is a network of 21 local programs in 32 counties in Pennsylvania. These programs, comprised of more than 1,000 volunteers, advocate for more than 2,000 children who have been subjected to abuse as well as neglect. These volunteers work to ensure that children's needs are met while in the dependency system, as well as assisting in obtaining safe and permanent housing." — State Rep. CASA Philadelphia volunteers are specially trained advocates appointed by the court to provide individualized advocacy for children in the welfare system.

CASA Philadelphia is proud to have 119 volunteers serving children in our community — trained, appointed, and trusted.

Each volunteer is assigned to one child or sibling group. They work alongside case managers, families, foster parents, attorneys, and service providers, focused entirely on that one child or family's needs. On Court Appointed Special Advocates Day, we honor them.

This Wednesday, July 15, is Court Appointed Special Advocates Day in Pennsylvania, designated by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives through House Resolution 480, Session of 2026.

CASA Philadelphia is one of 21 CASA programs across 32 Pennsylvania counties, providing trained volunteer advocates for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.
