Sleep? Muwhahaha!!!
Spend the night if you dare! Actual sleep is optional during our annual overnight paranormal investigation, where you get to explore the buildings, myths and legends behind the Fort’s permanent residents. Sleeping quarters are dormitory style, or BYO tent.

Participants have access to heated and unheated buildings, including some areas not open to the general visiting public, plus outdoor areas. Share your evidence and learn about the history of the Fort with local paranormal investigation team G.Host Official around the fire pit.

The event is best for experienced investigators (18 and older ONLY) – novices are encouraged to enjoy our Open Investigation Evening (10/3).

Our final public investigation for the year will be on Oct 3rd!!! This is an open investigation where you can explore and enter the most haunted locations within the fort. We will have seasoned paranormal investigators from Doorways to the Past on hand to help and guide if needed. This event runs from 7pm to Midnight for only $49.

September 20, 1777, The Battle of Paoli or the Paoli Massacre

After loosing at the Battle of Brandywine, General George Washington and his army retreated over the Schuylkill River. He crossed back over again to fight around the location where Malvern is today. A severe storm occurred and prevented either side from fighting and this battle is known as the Battle of the Clouds. After the storm, Washington was in need of dry ammunition and headed west towards Reading Pennsylvania While British General Howe remained due to the wet and rutted roads. Washington sent Brigadier General Anthony Wayne and Major General William Smallwood to harass Howe’s rear.
During the evening of the 19th, Wayne with 1500 men were camped near the Paoli Tavern which is near where Malvern is today and Smallwood was camped about 2 miles to the west near White Horse Tavern with his 1000 Pennsylvania militia. Unbeknownst to Wayne, Howe had known of his presence and mission from local Loyalist and spies. The next evening, September 20th, Howe sent Major General Charles Grey with 1800 soldiers towards Wayne’s camp. Wayne’s sentries spotted the British and fired upon them which alerted the camp. Three waves of British soldiers carrying bayonets entered and rushed through the camp. Wayne’s men were surprised, unprepared and were quickly overcome. They scatted and many ran towards Smallwood’s camp hoping for some reinforcement. The British pursued them and encounter Smallwood’s force that was coming to the rescue, but they were routed as well.
After the battle, General Howe received no further interaction from the Americans and march straight into Philadelphia on the 26th where they occupied for the next 9 months.

Trying to get to Fort Mifflin? Depending on your GPS it can be challenging. We have had calls from folks trying to find us and are right down the street and some from the other side of the Schuylkill River. When trying to find us, enter Fort Mifflin. If that does not work, our official address is 6400 Fort Mifflin Rd - our other address is 1 Hog Island Rd. To Make it worse, our exit on 95S Exit 15 (Enterprise Ave / Island Ave) is currently closed for construction, Continue to next exit (exit 14) to find us - 95N exit 13 is open. Or you can take 291 over the Platt Bridge and make a left on Island Ave to find us.
