⭐Mastery 25 for 25 Spotlight⭐
As a student-athlete at Mastery Thomas High , Aliyah Schaffer balanced academic excellence, membership in the National Honor Society, and varsity women’s basketball. However, it was the daily dedication and purpose she saw in her teachers that left a lasting impact and inspired her to make serving youth her life’s mission.

As a violence outreach therapist at Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia, Aliyah helps youth to grow, heal, and overcome the impacts of trauma. Exemplifying Mastery’s We Serve value, her advocacy builds confidence and conflict-resolution skills in youth, reassuring them of their agency in breaking destructive cycles. 🌟Mastery 25 for 25 Spotlight 🌟
What began as a means of expression for Mastery Shoemaker alum Dante Lemonte Booker, Jr., has evolved into a prolific career. As a cinematographer at Philadelphia production house Black Clover Studios, he blends creativity and curiosity to spotlight dynamic stories through a cultural lens. Dante’s featured work with Under Armour, Philadelphia Youth Basketball, and Snipes is a reminder of the limitless potential of the Mastery student.

Dante credits the staff at Shoemaker Campus for encouraging his sense of imagination. Through weekly art classes and a curated sophomore internship in architecture, his love of the creative arts was fostered. Visit https://bit.ly/4AErVeg to read more about Dante’s journey from student to artist.

For 15 years, the Mastery at Community College of Philadelphia program has offered students a unique dual-enrollment experience, jumpstarting their college journey. During their senior year, students in the program take college courses that can transfer to a four-year college of their choice or serve as a foundation for the remainder of their two-year college journey. The partnership between Mastery and CCP also guides students and families through the college application process and helps them navigate the academic, social, and financial requirements.

On their first day of programming, the cohort attended a panel of our partner institutions, including Bucknell University, Dickinson College, Franklin & Marshall College, Gettysburg College, Lehigh University, and Villanova University, who guided them in choosing a college major that fits their personal and professional goals. We are grateful for partners that help us break barriers to postsecondary success and empower students to pursue their dreams.

Congratulations to Mastery East Camden Middle School Principal Lynette Reyes! Principal Reyes’ leadership earned her the honor of being named Social Responsibility Through Me’s Principal of the Year. This well-deserved honor highlights Reyes’ dedication to empowering students to reach their full potential.

Her personal experience with unequal academic support has made her a champion for educational equity and deepened her commitment to Mastery’s mission of preparing students to succeed and pursue their dreams.
