Termite TV Collective
Termite TV makes media to challenge rigid structures through formal disruption, experimental methods, and community engagement.
Termites co-create space for idea sharing and collective world-building. Termite TV Collective makes media to challenge rigid structures through formal disruption, experimental methods, and community engagement. Just as the subterranean termite tears away at structural foundations through ingenuity and collective practice, Termite TV Collective believes that an expanded visual language is the vehicle for imagining new futures and provoking new thinking on pressing issues of our time. We work collectively and collaboratively, encouraging the freedom to explore with a sense of playfulness, spontaneity, and discovery. Through individual expression radiating out from common themes, Termites co-create space for idea sharing and collective world-building.

Join us on Saturday October 10th for a double celebration! El Bembé and the North Philadelphia History Festival!
Termite TV Collective and Norris Square Neighborhood Project (NSNP) in partnership with Philadelphia Latino Arts & Film Festival
Philadelphia Latino Arts and Film Festival (PHLAFF), invite you to El Bembé on Saturday, October 10,
from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Held at the historic Las Parcelas (2248 N. Palethorp St) and Villa Africana
Colobó Gardens (2263 Palethorp St.), the event celebrates the launch of the latest Augmented and Virtual
Reality (AR/VR) installations from the ongoing community media project, Places of Power: Las Parcelas.
The gardens will be open starting at 11AM for visitors to come and explore the AR/VR works for Scribe Video Center's North Philadelphia History Festival programming "El Jardín de la Música y El Espíritu," then a reception with food and music performance will kick-off at 3PM.
Co-directed by Anula Shetty and Michael Kuetemeyer (Termite TV) and Iris Brown (NSNP), Places of
Power: Las Parcelas engages an intergenerational group of Norris Square residents to preserve neighborhood memories, traditions, and stories. Through hands-on workshops, community participants have co-created immersive digital works using 3D photogrammetry portraits, 360-degree virtual tours, and filmed oral histories.
This year’s showcase highlights stories centered on Bomba and Plena, two spiritual Afro-Puerto Rican musical traditions born from the need to honor ancestors, survive hardship, and resist colonialism. Through AR technology, physical landmarks and objects throughout the gardens are transformed into interactive
portals, bringing resident voices and historic memories directly to visitors. “Bembé” is an African word for a celebration or gathering of friends, chosen to honor African roots and bring that cultural connection into the work happening in the workshops and the gardens.
Event Highlights Include:
• Immersive AR/VR Art Installations: Interactive media technology integrated throughout two
vibrant community gardens celebrating stories of Puerto Rico and the African Diaspora.
• Live Musical Performance: A special presentation by El Junte, an Afro-Puerto Rican collective
of community educators and artists honoring ancestral legacies through live drumming, song, and
dance.
• NSNP Archive Activation: Explore photographs from NSNP’s community archive and leave a recorded memory for future generations.

Join us First Friday September 4, from 5pm-8pm at Cherry Street Pier's Terrace Gallery! Explore what it means to heal, repair, and reconnect through MENDING, a multimedia exhibition at Cherry Street Pier featuring work by 21 media artists from Termite TV and PhillyCAM
Opening reception: Friday, September 4, 2026, from 5 pm – 8 pm
Exhibition on view September 4- 27
Over nine weeks, participating artists created 18 short films exploring mending from different perspectives. Using Termite TV’s signature “collage show” format, described as “video jazz” and “cubist television,” the exhibition brings many voices together around one shared idea.
Beyond film, Mending features photography and mixed-media works created through workshops exploring sewing, photo embroidery, botanical watercolor, oil pastel, painting, and more.
Together, the works explore mending as more than physical repair. Through personal stories of vulnerability, grief, healing, and renewal, the exhibition invites visitors to consider the many ways we put ourselves, and our communities, back together.
Featuring artists include: Gabe Castro, Michael Kuetemeyer, Anula Shetty, Debbie Rudman, Alan Powell, Laura Deutch, Ingrid Raphaël, Julie Woodard, Duwenavue Santé Johnson, Megan Llewellyn, J. Eliza Wall, Kae Luck, Bonnie MacAllister, Jamie Campbell, Brittany Barbato, Nasha Taylor, Dr. Jenine Lowery, Jonathan Olshefski, Michael O’Reilly, Ahmed Hassouna, Alejandra Lopez, Lamont Nathaniel Gibson, Julian Dupree, Nat Thomas, Jere Edmunds, Claire Roberts, Tamara R. They have served as an organizer with artist communities to create and share spaces with a DIY ethos for music and sound artists. They have a passion for teaching youth arts education, believing that the creative exploration of the arts is essential to a kid’s building of community, self, and expression.
