Hi Everyone,

We are unable to have service this morning because we are fellowshipping with Star of Hope Baptist Church for their Women’s Day Celebration. However, God told me to do something different today, so I am going to be obedient. With that, here’s a morning meditation to hold you over until we see each other again.

We have been studying the life of David for the past few weeks, and today I want to revisit a key portion of the story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. David was only at the battlefield to hear about the challenge Goliath posed to Israel because his father Jesse asked him to bring food to his older brothers—the same older brothers who generally degraded him. Yet, God knew that He had more for David to do.

Today, I want to encourage you. Don’t worry about how you get to your destination. Just know that God already has a plan to get you where you need to be. It may not be pretty, it may not be glamorous, and it may not be prestigious, but it will serve its purpose. David needed to be at the battlefield so he could defeat Goliath, and God used David’s defeat of Goliath to bring David into King Saul’s orbit and boost his profile as a warrior among the children of Israel—something that would be integral to his eventual role as King. Yet it all wouldn’t have happened if David had gotten so caught up in why he was there that he missed the opportunity that God had placed before him.

So here’s my encouragement to all of you. God can use even the most mundane and frustrating situations for His glory, so we need to be careful not to write anything off. After all, that problematic situation can be the very thing God uses to bring us to our destiny. So, let’s pray that God will open our eyes to recognize the things He wants to accomplish through our obedience, and let’s walk in the assurance that God has a purpose and a plan for everywhere He brings us on this journey called life.
