"No Other Place to Go" is currently on view at InLiquid gallery.

Curated in collaboration with Katie Tackman (), “No Other Place to Go” is an exhibition bringing together five artists who use photography to document environmental change, confront ecological loss and spark conversations about the realities of changing climate.

Featuring works by Anita Allyn (), Richard Boutwell (), Laura Krasnow (), Kaitlin Pomerantz () and Emma Ressel (.ressel), “No Other Place to Go” considers photography as both evidence and expression. Through images informed by scientific data, historical records, disappearing landscapes and shifting ecosystems, the artists examine not only what is changing, but how climate change affects memory, perception and our relationship to the natural world.

This exhibition is curated in conjunction with , which is supported by .

Says the artist: “When I notice these plants on my daily walks, Purple Cone Flower, Goldenrod, Maidenhair Fern, Cardinal Flower, Sassafras, and Philadelphia Fleabane, I feel a connection to the land and the people who came before me and walked the same paths. The artwork also features simplified symbols to represent water, a life force, and something we experience daily in a city connected to two rivers. This mural is an abstract landscape and an homage to our ancestors and our shared connection to nature.”

This children’s workshop is truly one of a kind! Artist Carlotta Schiavio, aka YaTii Talisman () will lead this event with a reading of her new children’s book and an art activity whereparticipants will become artists and invent their very own Bugibatuki character, inspired by Carlotta’s imaginative universe. They’ll create a unique creature with its own personality, story, and connection to the natural world.

First, on Friday, September 25 from 5:30 - 6:30, we’re unveiling this year’s rotational mural in the lobby of the South Tower!

This year’s artist is Linda Fernandez Linda Fernandez, who is presenting a vibrant composition of plants native to Philadelphia. The design is also Philadelphia Museum of Art ‘s selected artwork for their celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month!

Says the artist: “When I notice these plants on my daily walks, Purple Cone Flower, Goldenrod, Maidenhair Fern, Cardinal Flower, Sassafras, and Philadelphia Fleabane, I feel a connection to the land and the people who came before me and walked the same paths. The artwork also features simplified symbols to represent water, a life force, and something we experience daily in a city connected to two rivers. This mural is an abstract landscape and an homage to our ancestors and our shared connection to nature.”

Then, on Sunday, September 27, starting at 2 pm, we’re hosting A Magical Journey with the Bugibatukis!

InLiquid presents “The Poetry of First Light,” a photographic series by Philadelphia-based artist Raymond Carballada. Through a deeply observational approach to Philadelphia’s familiar landscape, Carballada uses photography to examine how light, atmosphere, and time transform how we see a place we think we already know.

Over 31 consecutive mornings in May 2024, Carballada returned to the same position on the Art Museum Steps at sunrise to photograph the Philadelphia skyline. The camera remained fixed, with the same framing and focal length each morning, so the skyline stayed constant while the light changed.

The resulting photographs are deceptively simple. Each image presents essentially the same view, yet no two are alike. Small shifts in sun, cloud, fog, and air become visible, creating changes in tone, contrast, and form. Working exclusively in black and white, Carballada removes the distraction of color, allowing these variations to become the work’s central subject.
