MEE has been contracted by the Allegheny County (PA) Department of Human Services to support its community outreach and engagement related to upcoming drastic changes to eligibility for Medicaid. These healthcare coverage changes have the potential to negatively impact about 26,000 low-income residents in the County, leaving them without healthcare. MEE’s work is focused on getting more families aware of the impending changes to federal Medicaid rules, so that they can be prepared to take all actions they can to preserve their health coverage.
In addition to developing culturally specific messaging promoting a sense of urgency and executing a targeted digital-media placement strategy, MEE is leveraging its many relationships with established and trusted community partners to get the word out about how this essential safety net program is being endangered.
Between now and the end of this year, MEE also plans to support trusted community organizations, faith-based leaders and others in hosting and promoting a series of virtual and in-person information sessions where individuals and families can learn more about the implications of these changes to Medicaid healthcare coverage. All these components are built on a strong call-to-action so that residents understand the dire consequences for ignoring the changes or hoping they go away.

Addiction is a complex disease of the brain. Supporting disproportionately impacted residents and their families in successfully navigating the journey to recovery takes a commitment to meeting them where they are and giving them “do-able microsteps” that will allow them to achieve better health and life outcomes.
Medications for treating for opioid use disorders have proven benefits and are a key harm-reduction tool, but vulnerable populations are underrepresented among those using this pathway.
Disparities in overdose deaths and/or prescribing of MOUD? We can help!

MEE is excited to start work with The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation in May on an important new health project in 2026 to collaboratively create innovative communications and marketing strategies to effectively engage and support communities of color across the country.
The Foundation is the leading non-profit organization focused on both research and patient support for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). MEE’s upcoming work will support the Foundation’s missions of curing Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and improving the quality of life for the millions of Americans living with IBD.
The Strategic Marketing Plan MEE will create for the Foundation will be focused on driving enrollment, engagement and retention of Black and Hispanic patients in an online, direct-to-patient (D2P) research registry that gives them access to advances in treatment, opportunities to participate in cutting-edge research and connects them to others living with IBD. The registry will also offer access to expert information, news and educational resources.
Bringing a trauma-informed lens to every project has allowed MEE to gain deep insights into the daily lives and challenges that must be considered when attempting to get Black and Hispanic communities to engage with health systems, treatments and technologies.
