She now serves as president of her university’s MLS club, the Mississippi student president for ASCLS, was awarded the 2026 Mississippi MLS Student of the Year, and uses social media to highlight the work of laboratory professionals while seeking this scholarship to continue her education and support her family with unwavering dedication. She will use this scholarship to focus her energy and time on her program and future patients.

Yusrah’s purpose in pursuing advanced practice is shaped by her commitment to improving culturally competent healthcare for Muslim American communities, a passion strengthened through her work as an EMT during COVID, her service at a free clinic, and her experience as an RN in oncology and the emergency department. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from GMU’s nursing program, has been deeply involved in community education and preventative care, and now seeks to become a provider who can more effectively advocate for diverse patients and expand access to culturally appropriate care.
