CURRENTLY AVAILABLE: one of the most iconic notes ever printed in the united states.
this is the 1899 $5 silver certificate, commonly known as the indian chief note.
the portrait features running antelope, a hunkpapa lakota chief. although he’s shown wearing a full feathered war bonnet, the original photograph he was engraved from didn’t include one. it was added by the engraver, creating one of the most recognizable, but historically inaccurate, designs in u.s. paper money.
as a silver certificate, this note could once be redeemed for five silver dollars held by the u.s. treasury.
over 125 years later, it’s still considered one of the most beautiful and collectible pieces of american currency ever produced.

every family business has a beginning... this is ours.
meet the man, the myth, the legend: my great-grandfather, victor capo, sr.
in 1966, while working a full time job and after serving our country, he turned his love of coins into something more. what started as a part-time passion—opening the shop on nights and weekends—slowly grew into the family business we know today.
he built this shop with hard work, honesty, and a genuine love for the hobby. those values are still at the heart of everything we do, nearly 60 years later.
these old photos aren’t just snapshots—they’re the foundation of capo’s coins. every coin that’s come through our doors, every customer we’ve met, and every generation that’s carried this business forward started with one man’s dream.
here’s to you, pop-pop. thank you for building something worth preserving. ❤️

they don’t call it the black eagle for nothing 🦅
issued in 1899, this $1 silver certificate earned its nickname from the massive eagle spreading its wings across the center of the note. it was once redeemable for silver dollars and has become one of the most iconic pieces of u.s. paper money ever printed.
this beauty is currently available in the shop!
