The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation

Congratulations to the Kappa Detroit Foundation!

The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation proudly celebrates the Kappa Detroit Foundation for its outstanding work to develop young leaders while making a meaningful difference in the Detroit community.

Recently featured by CBS News Detroit, the Foundation and its young participants are transforming a vacant lot on Detroit’s east side into a community garden, an initiative designed to beautify the neighborhood, help address food insecurity, and provide young men with hands-on opportunities to learn leadership, teamwork, and service. With 60 young people participating in its program this year, the Kappa Detroit Foundation is demonstrating what it means to invest in the next generation while strengthening the communities we serve.

Congratulations to the Kappa Detroit Foundation, its leadership, and these outstanding young men for putting achievement, leadership, and service into action.

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation joins our nation in remembering the lives lost and honoring the heroes whose courage, sacrifice, and service defined that tragic day and its aftermath.

As an organization committed to creating opportunities for future achievers, we recognize that remembrance also carries a responsibility: to teach young people about the power of service, the importance of community, and the difference each of us can make when others need us most.

May the legacy of those we remember today inspire all of us to serve with purpose, lead with compassion, and invest in a future strengthened by unity.

to the 2026 Kappa Kamp. Each year, Kappa Kamp provides participants, ages 12-16, with the opportunity to acquire productive life skills through intensive workshops, learning through structured physical activities, enrichment camps and classes, and attendance at a variety of cultural and recreational activities, field trips, and educational lectures.

One of the programs participants learn about is Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity's Learn 2 Live. The Learn 2 Live initiative provides critical knowledge and practical skills that can help youth navigate interactions with law enforcement safely, confidently, and with a clear understanding of their constitutional rights. For more than a decade, the program has combined constitutional literacy, interactive real-world scenarios, and candid dialogue with law enforcement professionals to help bridge gaps in trust and understanding.

By teaching young people not only their rights but also how to respond thoughtfully and responsibly during potentially difficult encounters, Learn 2 Live equips them with tools that extend beyond a single interaction. The program also strengthens their confidence, judgment, self-advocacy, and ability to make informed decisions. Ultimately, the Learn 2 Live is about empowerment, preparation, and ensuring that our youth have the knowledge they need to protect their futures and thrive.

This year, Kappa Kamp is celebrating 30 years of providing leadership development to our next generation of achievers. The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation is a proud partner of Kappa Kamp and we look forward to many more years of empowering our youth together!
