Beyond Awareness: Safety in Action is an intimate self defense and personal safety experience hosted by ITAVFoundation in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

We often talk about recognizing unsafe situations, being aware of our surroundings, and knowing when something is wrong. This experience takes the conversation further by creating an opportunity to learn, prepare, practice, and put safety into action.

Led by safety instructor Tasha Plaza, CEO and Owner of Prime Legacy Security Inc., participants will be introduced to practical physical self defense skills while engaging in meaningful conversations around personal safety, awareness, preparation, and protection.

This is more than a self defense class. It is a curated safe space experience designed to bring together practical instruction, conversation, tangible resources, and community.

What does it really mean to be aware of your surroundings?

One of the biggest conversations during our Women’s Personal Safety Workshop was understanding that personal safety starts long before we ever have to physically defend ourselves.

It is paying attention. Recognizing when something feels off. Understanding your environment. Knowing your options. And learning how the decisions we make in everyday situations can impact our safety.

These are the conversations we wanted women and young women in our community to have access to.

Knowledge is a form of protection, too.
