Member Spotlight: Chris McCrum

Chris McCrum has been making music for more than a decade. He began his musical journey in the Delran school system, joining the marching band as a 7th grader and eventually spending six years in the program. In 2020, Chris began his journey in the string band division.

This year, he was invited to audition for the 2026 season of The Bushwackers Drum Corps, where Chris took on the role of “The Hypnotist,” helping lead the corps through the show’s storyline. His outstanding performance earned him the 2026 Lou Storck Memorial Award, presented to an individual or section in the DCI All-Age Class for outstanding showmanship.

Congratulations, Chris, on an incredible accomplishment! We’re proud to have your talent and showmanship as part of the South Philadelphia String Band family!
