In response to the Supreme Court’s decision rejecting President Donald Trump’s mail ballot restrictions, Verified Voting’s President & CEO Pamela Smith released the following statement:

“The past several weeks of manufactured chaos and uncertainty were unnecessary; the states run elections, and neither this Administration nor the USPS has any role as a gatekeeper for voters’ ballots. The priority must remain clear: protecting voters’ access to the ballot, maintaining transparent elections, and ensuring every eligible vote counts.”

⚡️ Fun Fact: Before joining Verified Voting, Senior Policy Associate Cheryl Billard spent over a decade in Georgia elections administration—including helping run the state's first risk-limiting audit!

She served as a deputy registrar in Cobb County and spent more than ten years as an assistant elections supervisor in Bartow County. She has also worked on system testing, ballot building, and advisory work for the Georgia Secretary of State's office.

That on-the-ground experience shapes how Cheryl approaches Verified Voting’s national policy work. She knows what election administration looks like at every level, from inside a county office to a Secretary of State’s office.
